Halloween Collection 2016 and Freebie

Dear stitchers and friends, I’m finally ready to show you my new Halloween Collection, and as you see, there are a lot of news!
I created four new patterns, plus one more as a gift for you, and for each pattern there's a brief story.
The first one that I present you is The Witch's Brew. A witch is preparing a magic potion in her cauldron that has the power to make her fly away with her broom!
It is said that in the Middle Ages, and even earlier, the witches made use of ointments and herbal potions that help them to leave the body and to fly to the Sabbath in spirit form.
These practices were considered witchcraft, but beyond this demonization there were wise women who, through natural means, could live intense ecstatic and joyful experiences...

The second pattern is the fourth one of my Legends for Halloween series, and tells about a real legend that comes from the mysterious and spooky cemetery of St. James, in Liverpool.
It was said that just in the cemetery a headless woman appeared every night at midnight, and climbed over the gate, scaring the sentinels who were placed on guard. In 1807, two of them died of fear after seeing her.
Unlikely collective hallucination... or reality? Who knows... ;)

The third design I present you is the fifth one of my Legends for Halloween series.
It is said that one of the forms that the Messengers of Death took was that of a crow, which rested on a branch in front of the house of those who would soon leave the life and croaked three times.
Despite this, the crow that I represented has a value a little sweeter. It’s a magical raven that croaks on full moon nights and holds the key that helps the souls of the departed to cross the threshold hidden in the veil between the worlds to reunite with their beloved family, which are on earth and are waiting for them to celebrate together the feast of All Saints.

Finally, the fourth pattern is more cheerful and funny. This is the female version of Jack O'Lantern, which in Irish legends was called Jacky Lantern. Like Jack, this female entity was spiteful and caused great trouble, but if who encountered her was kind to her, she could be very good and helped those who had been lost to find their way home.
I love the image of Jacky Lantern, so I also created a little freebie for all of you. I hope you enjoy it and that it brings you joy and fun in these beautiful autumn days!

After all these stories, which are the result of my constant researches of ancient legends and forgotten traditions, I just have to wish you a happy Halloween, and lovely days of reunion with your loved ones who are no longer here.
A big hug to all... see you soon!

Moby Dick and The Sacred Bee

Buongiorno carissime Ricamine!

Good evening dear Stitchers! I am finally ready to introduce the new summer patterns!
The first one is dedicated to the great novel by Herman Melville, Moby Dick, the great whale white as snow. I’m sure you all know well its history, but I want to spend a few words about the choice of the date that I have included in the pattern. I found no dating in the novel, but reading the novel's background, or the real events that inspired it to Melville, I found two stories that fascinated me.

The first one says that in 1820 the whaling ship “Essex”, from Nantucket, was sunk by the impact with a huge whale, at 3200 km from the west coast of South America. One of the eight survivors told the story, just like Ishmael, the famous Moby Dick narrator. The second anecdote speaks about the killing of a big white whale, called Mocha Dick, off the Chilean island of Mocha, in 1830. "It was said that Mocha Dick had twenty or more prongs embedded in the back by other whalers and that it seemed to attack the ships with premeditated ferocity."
I preferred to choose the date of 1820, although both the dates are extremely linked to events told in the novel.

The second pattern is the third one in my series dedicated to the Bees, and is The Sacred Bee, honored by her handmaids. I am very fond of this bee design, and I'm very fond of my small Dancing Bees, designed the first time in 2014 for "The Queen of the Bees" pattern, and always present in all my patterns that are part of The Sacred Bee Series.
The Sacred Bee pattern is dedicated to the millennial sacredness attributed to the Bees and to the need to protect them, because each passing year there are fewer and fewer bees, and this is terribly serious, because all life on Earth depends on them.
We can cultivate little gardens for them, with plants and flowers that attract and feed them, so they can find nectar and host.

Spero davvero che i nuovi schemi vi piacciano, e che vi portino luce e gioia!
Un abbraccio a tutte voi!

I really hope that you like these new patterns and that they bring to you light and joy!
A big hug to all of you!

The Neverending Story

Bastian: “Perché è così buio?”
L’Imperatrice Bambina: “All’inizio è sempre buio…”

Bastan: “Why is it so dark?”
The Childlike Empress: “In the beginning it is always dark...”

This is one of the most beautiful, deep and true quotations from the great work of Michael Ende, from which was created one of the most beautiful movies ever made, The Neverending Story.

…And it was of such importance during my childhood, both the movie and the book, that as soon as I got the idea to draw it I closed my eyes and it was there, in all its details.
The part to which I have dedicated more time has been that of Falkor, I tried to put inside it all the love and care possible because he was as similar as possible to him... and while I was stitching him, he came alive, his eyes were alive, his good-natured smile was real... For me it is the most important character and also now that it's here looking at me, I feel that a little bit life is really inside him, inside his eyes.
It protects my dreams... but also yours, if you want to stitch him :)

- “Every real story is a never ending story.”
(Michael Ende)

I hope you like this new design - it's a DOUBLE design, the first one is the one you can see in these photos, the second one is dedicated only to Falkor - and that it give you joy. The next patterns will be released in summer because at the moment I have important writing projects to realize... but be prepared to new patterns about our beloved bees and... who knows what else? ;)
May your dreams, as the beautiful Childlike Empress says - which perhaps is our luminous and eternally young soul – make Fantasia more beautiful every day…
Continuing to pursue our dreams, we will keep it alive… and we need it so much, especially in these delicate and difficult times.
A big hug :)

“Every real story is a never ending story.”
(Michael Ende)
