Dear Stitchers,
I should have published these new patterns some time ago, but because of the lockdown here in Italy, due to the Coronavirus, I’ve not had the opportunity to frame the stitched pieces and produce the prints of the covers. Finally, luckily, I got it and I can introduce you to the new releases.
The first is dedicated to a novel that, I’m sure, many of you love very much: Little Women.
The pattern shows the of the four adorable sisters March portraits, Meg, Jo, Beth and Amy, each of them with her own characteristics that makes her different and unique.
Meg has the elegance and composure that characterize her nature, Jo is cheeky and lively, with loose hair and a fiery red dress, Beth is sweet and kind, braided hair and checkered dress, and Amy is just Amy, a bit frivolous but very pretty.

avrei dovuto pubblicare questi nuovi schemi qualche tempo fa, ma a causa anche del blocco qui in Italia, a causa del Coronavirus, non avevo avuto la possibilità di fare incorniciare i ricami e di produrre le stampe delle copertine. Finalmente, per fortuna, ci sono riuscita e posso presentarvi le nuove uscite.
La prima è dedicata a un romanzo che, sono certa, molte di voi amano moltissimo: Piccole Donne.
Nel ricamo sono presenti i ritratti delle quattro adorabili sorelle March, Meg, Jo, Beth ed Amy, ognuna con le sue caratteristiche che la rende diversa e unica.
Meg ha l’eleganza e la compostezza che caratterizzano il suo carattere, Jo è sbarazzina e vivace, con i capelli sciolti e l’abito rosso fuoco, Beth è dolce e gentile, i capelli intrecciati e il vestito a quadretti, ed Amy è proprio Amy, un po’ frivola ma molto carina.
Beside them, I designed the house of the author Louisa May Alcott, with its characteristic turquoise door, and I added one of the most beautiful quotes from the book.
I hope you enjoy my version of this novel, and that it may accompany a re-reading of the story, or the vision of the new movie.
Accanto a loro, ho disegnato la casa dell’autrice Louisa May Alcott, con la sua caratteristica porta turchese, e ho aggiunto una delle citazioni più belle del libro.
Spero che la mia versione di questo romanzo vi possa piacere, e che magari possa accompagnare una rilettura della storia, oppure la visione del nuovo film.
The second pattern is dedicated to a fairy tale you all surely know, the Frog Prince, or The Golden Globe. In my interpretation, the beautiful princess is preparing to give a kiss to the toad, that, with its little golden crown, waits confidently!
In the fairy tale, the princess is helped by the toad to recover the precious golden globe, fallen into the well. The frog swims to recover it, and then asks the princess to be welcomed in her castle for some time.
Il secondo ricamo è dedicato ad una fiaba che conoscete tutte, il Principe Ranocchio, o La Sfera D’Oro. Nella mia interpretazione, la bella principessa si appresta a dare un bacio al rospo, che con la sua coroncina attende fiducioso!
Nella fiaba, la principessa viene aiutata dal rospo a recuperare la preziosa sfera d’oro, caduta nel pozzo. La ranocchia nuota fino a recuperarla, e poi chiede alla principessa di accoglierlo nel suo castello per qualche tempo.
The quote from the fairy tale reminds us that when you receive help in the moment of greatest difficulty, then you must not be rude or repudiate those who helped, just as the princess must learn.
Of course, the toad is a beautiful prince, who will reveal himself when the spell is broken.
The embroidery is embellished with golden DMC yarn and also some golden beads, which you can easily find in a good needleshop - or on Amazon, where I purchased them in a package that contains different sizes.
La citazione tratta dalla fiaba ricorda che, quando si riceve aiuto nel momento di maggiore difficoltà, poi non bisogna essere scortesi o ripudiare chi ci ha aiutato, così come la principessa deve imparare.
Naturalmente il rospo è un bellissimo principe, che si rivelerà tale quando l’incantesimo sarà spezzato.
Il ricamo è impreziosito dal filato DMC dorato e da alcune perline dorate anch’esse, che potete facilmente trovare in una buona merceria online – oppure su Amazon, dove le ho acquistate io in una confezione che ne contiene di diverse dimensioni.
The third pattern is dedicated, once again, to my beloved Jane Eyre. This time I wanted to represent the first moment when she, as a child, arrives at the terrible college of Lowood, and rector obliges her to get on the stool and stand for the whole day, since she is considered a liar. The perfidious Mr. Brooklehurst will also invite all the other girls to beware of her, to hate her… but none of this will happen.
Il terzo schema è dedicato, ancora una volta, alla mia amata Jane Eyre. Questa volta ho voluto rappresentare il primo momento in cui lei, bambina, giunge al terribile collegio di Lowood, e viene fatta salire dal rettore su uno sgabello e stare immobile per l’intera giornata, poiché ritenuta una bugiarda. Il perfido Mr. Brooklehurst, inoltre, inviterà tutte le altre bambine a guardarsi da lei, a odiarla… ma nulla di questo succederà.
The scene has always touched me so much, because despite being sad and arousing anger, it is also full of such strength and endurance, demonstrated by Jane, that it is an example for everyone.
A very nice part of the scene takes place when the sweet Helen Burns secretly hands Jane a piece of bread, to support her in that hard moment. From that moment, the two girls will become inseparable friends, until poor Helen dies of tuberculosis.
La scena mi ha sempre colpita tanto, perché pur essendo triste e suscitando rabbia, è anche carica di una tale forza e resistenza, dimostrata da Jane, da essere d’esempio per tutte/i.
Una parte molto bella della scena avviene quando la dolcissima Helen Burns porge di nascosto a Jane un pezzetto di pane, per sostenerla in quel momento così duro. Da quel momento, le due bambine diventeranno amiche inseparabili, fino a quando la povera Helen morirà di tubercolosi.
Finally, the fourth pattern comes out from my great love for the actions that our women ancestors have carried out for us, and is inspired by the famous photo of Anne Kenney and Christabel Pankhurst. The Suffragettes fought so that women all over the world could begin to obtain the same rights as men, first of all the Right to Vote.
In America they obtained it on August 1920, one hundred years ago. These women are a constant example for my life and for the life of many other women, and this pattern is a small tribute to them.
Inside the pattern you will also find a second famous slogan of that time, which instead of “Votes for Women” says “Deeds not Words”, an extremely important warning. So you can choose which slogan you prefer to stitch on the Suffragette’s sheet, or you can stitch the alternative phrase as an ornament.
Infine, il quarto schema nasce dal mio grande amore per le azioni che le nostre antenate hanno svolto per noi, ed è ispirato alla famosa fotografia di Anne Kenney e Christabel Pankhurst. Le Suffragette si sono battute perché le donne di tutto il mondo potessero cominciare ad ottenere gli stessi diritti degli uomini, primo fra tutti il Diritto al Voto.
Queste donne sono per me un costante esempio di vita e questo schema è un piccolo tributo per loro.
All’interno dello schema troverete anche una seconda versione del cartello mostrato dalle due Suffragette, che al posto di “Votes for Women” dice “Deeds not Words”, ovvero “Fatti non Parole”, un monito estremamente importante. Potrete quindi scegliere in che modo ricamare le due attiviste, oppure ricamare a parte la frase alternativa.
Lo schema offre, inoltre, in alternativa la data dell’ottenimento del voto alle donne in Italia, che potete sostituire a quella del voto americano.
