Welcome Autumn

Good morning, Stitchers! I know many of you were waiting for this, and I’m so happy to finally show it to you! With the first cool evenings, the first golden sunsets, and the moon still full, the air of autumn is imperceptible but it’s arriving, and with it, my Welcome Autumn!
The pattern continues the series I began last spring and now portrays everything we love most about autumn. You’ll find three sweet little animals: a robin, a fox, and a squirrel, pumpkins, oak branches with acorns and yellowed leaves, mushrooms, a lantern whose dancing flames light up the autumn evenings, then a teapot with a nice cup of piping hot tea, a warm, colorful sweater, and also everything you need for a truly cozy day: a plaid blanket, books to read, a cup of hot chocolate, and a lit candle.

Buongiorno Ricamine! So che molte di voi lo stavano aspettando e sono felicissima di potervelo mostrare finalmente! Con le prime sere fresche, i primi tramonti dorati, e la luna ancora piena, l’aria dell’autunno è impercettibile ma sta arrivando, e con lei ecco il mio Welcome Autumn!
Lo schema prosegue la serie iniziata la scorsa primavera e adesso ritrae tutto ciò che dell’autunno amiamo di più. Troverete tre animaletti dolcissimi, ovvero il pettirosso, la volpina e lo scoiattolo, poi zucche rami di quercia con ghiande e foglie ingiallite, poi funghi, lanterne che con la loro fiamma danzante rischiarano le sere autunnali, ma anche una teiera con una bella tazza di tè bollente, un caldo maglioncino colorato e tutto ciò che serve per una giornata davvero calorosa, ovvero una coperta scozzese, libri da leggere, una cioccolata e la candela accesa.

I love this pattern; it’s warm and cozy, a real cuddle. As always, you can stitch it as a single piece or create ten small ornaments to decorate your home, or, if you will make it, a branch as a small autumn tree.
I hope you like it; all that’s missing is winter and, perhaps, a small variation, but who knows… ;)

Amo questo schema, è caldo e accogliente, una coccola. Potete come sempre ricamarlo per intero oppure creare dieci piccoli ornament per decorare la casa o, se lo farete, un ramo come piccolo albero autunnale.
Spero che vi piaccia, ormai mancherà solo l’inverno e, forse, una piccola variante, ma chissà… ;)

Sweet Autumn Fox

Dear Stitchers, after Betsy the Hare Witch, I’m ready to show you, one by one, the new patterns for this Autumn and Halloween!
If you love foxes, this will definitely be one of your favorites. I’ve chosen three of the cutest fox poses and I created this set of patterns in postcard and ornament format that will brighten up your fall. The first pattern, Best Friends, features the little fox in a silly pose while playing or chatting with her robin friend. You can make it into a postcard, frame it, create a small bag, or even a simple ornament. The second pattern shows the sweet little fox gazing, enchanted and moved, at the first snowflake. Her little heart beats faster at this delicate beauty. The third pattern features our little fox smiling before taking a nap, surrounded by leaves and mushrooms.

Care Ricamatrici, dopo Betsy, la Strega Lepre, sono pronta a mostrarvi, uno per uno, i nuovi schemi per questo autunno e per Halloween!
Se amate le volpi, questo sarà di sicuro uno dei vostri preferiti. Ho scelto tre pose di volpi, le più carine, e ho creato questo set di schemi in formato cartolina e ornament che allieteranno il vostro autunno. Il primo schema, Best Friends, è per la volpina in posa buffa mentre gioca o chiacchiera con il suo amico pettirosso. Potete farne una cartolina, incorniciarlo, o creare una piccola borsa, oppure ancora un semplice ornament. Il secondo schema, mostra la dolcissima volpina mentre osserva incantata e commossa il primo fiocco di neve. Il suo cuoricino batte forte davanti a questa delicata bellezza. Il terzo schema è la nostra volpina mentre sorride prima di fare un pisolino, circondata da foglie e funghetti.

I love this sweet fox in all its poses, and if you like it, I’ve sketched out a couple more of poses that I’ll be happy to create next fall.

Little Seasons Birds

Dear Stitchers, the SAL is officially over and the Little Seasons Birds pattern is complete! It includes the four little birds you have met during the year, or the Blue Chaffinch, the Flame Colored Tanager, the Boreal Chickadee and the Gray Jay, each with the assigned season, inspired by its colors. I hope you like it and I wish you all a happy winter and Happy Holidays!

Little Pumpkin Ghosts

Dear Stitchers,
is it a bit late for Halloween? No, it’s never too late for Halloween – and even more so for Thanksgiving. I drew one of these sweet ghosts for a cross-stitch magazine, stitched it in a couple of nights, and fell in love with it so much that I wanted to expand the subject by creating other little patterns and making a set to be proposed directly to you. That’s how my Little Pumpkin Ghosts were born, which try to be scary, but I doubt they could ever scare anyone.

è un po’ tardi per Halloween? No dai, non è mai tardi per Halloween – e ancora di più, per la Festa del Ringraziamento. Ho disegnato uno di questi dolcissimi fantasmi per il numero di una rivista di punto croce, l’ho ricamato in un paio di notti, e me ne sono innamorata così tanto da voler ampliare il soggetto creando altri piccoli schemi e facendone un set da proporre direttamente a voi. Così sono nati i miei Little Pumpkin Ghosts, che tentano di fare paura, ma dubito che possano mai spaventare qualcuno.

The first one hides behind the pumpkins, waiting to pop out and (not) scare anyone! Three other little ghosts hover over the pumpkins in a “terrifying” procession. The third, the smallest, is so tiny that it needs a sign to say “BOO”, and it will surely scare everyone (let’s make him believe it, so he’s happy!). Finally, I decided to finish the last one by shaping it to create a little doll. By now it has understood that it won’t scare anyone, so it is busy helping as much as it can, to decorate the house for Halloween, with its garland of dry leaves.

Il primo si nasconde dietro le zucche, in attesa di sbucare fuori e (non) spaventare qualcuno! Altri tre piccoli fantasmi aleggiano sopra le zucche in una “terrificante” processione. Il terzo, il più piccino, è talmente piccolo da avere bisogno di un cartello per dire “BOO”, e sicuramente farà molta paura a chiunque (facciamoglielo credere, così è contento!). infine, l’ultimo ho deciso di rifinirlo sagomato per crearne una bambolina. Ormai ha capito che non farà paura a nessuno, così si dà da fare per aiutare come può, a decorare la casa per Halloween, con la sua ghirlanda di foglie secche.

Magic Mushrooms

Dear Stitchers,
The pattern I present to you today is perhaps the last one dedicated to this autumn, but I love these mushrooms so much, so I have already designed and stitched another one and maybe I will create another set or two, they are wonderful and surprising creatures of nature.

quello che vi presento oggi è forse l’ultimo schema dedicato a questo autunno, ma adoro così tanto questi funghetti che ne ho disegnato e già ricamato un altro e magari creerò un altro set o due, sono creature della natura meravigliose e sorprendenti.

This first set includes three special mushrooms, the well-known fly agaric, or Amanita muscaria, and then the Cyclocybe erebia and Mycena adscendens. Each of them tells stories of autumn, of woods scented with earth and rain, of the very first snowflakes, of small wonders that hide before our eyes, but that we rarely see.
They teach us to observe better, and more closely, and to collect the beauty that is scattered everywhere, if only we open our eyes to see it.

Questo primo set comprende tre funghi speciali, la ben nota Amanita muscaria, e poi i Cyclocybe erebia e Mycena adscendens. Ognuno di loro racconta storie d’autunno, di boschi profumati di terra e pioggia, di primissimi fiocchi di neve, di piccole meraviglie che si nascondono sotto i nostri occhi, ma che raramente vediamo.
Ci insegnano a osservare meglio, e più da vicino, e a raccogliere la bellezza che è disseminata ovunque, se solo apriamo gli occhi per vederla.

Legends for Halloween. The Ghost Spinner

Light a candle, a new story is about to begin.
In some villages in our mountains, it is said that on certain nights a creature as fascinating as it was chilling would appear. A very tall, thin woman, with diaphanous skin and a long, white dress. A female ghost, as many called her. On certain occasions, she would appear sitting at a large spinning wheel, where she would spin and spin, perhaps impalpable wool… perhaps the destiny of human beings.

Accendete una candela, una nuova storia sta per cominciare.
In alcuni paesini delle nostre montagne si racconta che in certe notti comparisse una creatura tanto affascinante quanto raggelante. Una donna altissima, magra, dalla pelle diafana e dalla lunga veste bianchissima. Una fantasma, così veniva chiamata da molti. In certe occasioni compariva seduta a un grande arcolaio, dove filava e filava, forse lana impalpabile… forse il destino degli esseri umani.

Those who saw her appear, at the end of a dark and deserted road, often died of fear, but sometimes they survived, and then they would tell. They said they had met the ghost spinner, and that they had escaped just before she, looking up from the constant turning of the spinning wheel, looked them in the eyes.
It is not known what would have happened, if she had succeeded. Perhaps only those who died, would have been able to reveal it.

Coloro che la vedevano apparire, in fondo a una strada buia e deserta, spesso morivano di paura, ma qualche volta riuscivano a sopravvivere, e allora raccontavano. Raccontavano di aver incontrato la fantasma filatrice, e di essere fuggiti poco prima che lei, alzando lo sguardo dal girare costante della ruota del filatoio, li guardasse negli occhi.
Non è dato sapere cosa sarebbe accaduto, se lei ci fosse riuscita. Forse solo coloro che ne morirono, avrebbero potuto svelarlo.

I dedicated this pattern to her, the Ghost Spinner of our legends. I wonder if she was known and encountered in other countries? I’m sure she was.

Ho dedicato questo schema a lei, la Fantasma Filatrice delle nostre leggende. Chissà se anche in altri paesi era conosciuta e incontrata? Sono certa di sì.

Legends for Halloween. The Grave Bell

The candle burns in front of the window, creating a warm and safe halo. But outside the first mists rise from the damp earth, and recall gloomy and cold stories.
There was a time, not far away, in which life and death, when they touched hands, could be confused, one in the other. What resembled death, yet was still life, could be declared death, and those who were only sound asleep, suffered the worst of fates. They were believed to be dead, and buried. Alive.
For a long time, and especially during cholera epidemics, the terror of suffering this fate has afflicted people, from the poorest to the richest sovereigns. And when, over time, the oldest tombs were reopened to collect the bones, clear the cemeteries and fill the ossuaries, it was not uncommon to discover with dismay coffins scratched from the inside. And fingers, now skeletal, consumed in the attempt to free themselves and get out.
For this reason, some devices were used, the so-called safe coffins, which allowed the outside world, that of the living, to be warned of having ended up prematurely in that of the dead.

La candela arde di fronte alla finestra, crea un alone caldo e sicuro. Ma fuori le prime nebbie salgono dalla terra umida, e ricordano storie lugubri e fredde.
C’è stato un tempo, non lontano, nel quale la vita e la morte, quando si sfioravano le mani, potevano essere confuse, l’una nell’altra. Ciò che somigliava alla morte, eppure era ancora vita, poteva essere dichiarata morte, e coloro che erano solo profondamente addormentati, subivano il peggiore dei destini. Venivano creduti morti, e sepolti. Vivi.
Per molto tempo, e in particolare durante le epidemie di colera, il terrore di subire questo destino ha afflitto le persone, dalle più povere ai più ricchi sovrani. E quando, nel tempo, le tombe più vecchie venivano riaperte per raccogliere le ossa, liberare i cimiteri e riempire gli ossari, non era raro scoprire con sgomento bare graffiate dall’interno. E dita, ormai scheletriche, consumate nel tentativo di liberarsi e uscire.
Per questo motivo si ricorse ad alcuni accorgimenti, le cosiddette bare sicure o safety coffins, che permettessero di avvisare il mondo esterno, quello dei vivi, di essere finiti prematuramente in quello dei morti.

One of these devices was proposed in 1798, when P.G. Pessler, a German priest, suggested inserting a rope tied to the church bells into the coffin, so that if the dead realized they were not truly dead, they could move the rope, ring the bells, and be freed.
From this proposal, the smallest grave bells were born. Small saviors of those who, in the darkness of the earth and among the worms, were still breathing…

Uno di questi accorgimenti venne proposto nel 1798, quando P.G. Pessler, un sacerdote tedesco suggerì di inserire nella bara una corda legata alle campane della chiesa, così che se i morti si fossero accorti di non essere veramente morti avrebbero potuto muovere la corda, suonare le campane, ed essere liberati.
Da questa proposta nacquero le più piccole campanelle delle tombe. Piccole salvatrici di coloro che, nel buio della terra e fra i vermi, respiravano ancora…

And now imagine walking, at night, in an old cemetery… the owl screams, but something else breaks the silence…
The mournful tinkling of a bell, which shakes, alone, between the living and the dead.

For my series Legends for Halloween, not a legend, but reality I wanted to represent with this pattern.
A buried woman and her grave bell.
It is up to you to decide whether the bell will ring or remain silent.
A small key is hanging on the tombstone. Who knows if it will be used, or will it remain there forever?

E ora immaginate di camminare, nottetempo, in un vecchio cimitero… la civetta urla, ma a rompere il silenzio è qualcos’altro…
Il lugubre tintinnare di una campanella, che si agita, solitaria, fra i vivi e i morti.

Per la mia serie Legends for Halloween, non una leggenda, ma la realtà ho voluto rappresentare con questo schema.
Una donna sepolta e la sua campanella della tomba.
Sta a voi decidere se la campanella suonerà o resterà muta.
Una piccola chiave è appesa alla lapide. Chissà se verrà usata, o resterà lì appesa per sempre?

Little Season Birds - Mini SAL

Dear Stitchers,
in a few hours it will be the Spring Equinox, the moment when night and day have the same duration, and at the same time, the first of the seasonal celebrations of this new year.
In this last period, I wanted to create and worked on a new sweet pattern dedicated to my favorite theme, little birds, the most beautiful and colorful that Nature has generated. From this pattern, dedicated precisely to the seasons and the birds that can represent them due to their colorful plumage, I wanted to organize a mini SAL that will accompany us throughout the year, until next winter.
It is a very simple, fast, yet really sweet and companionable SAL.
The SAL is made up of four steps, each marked by the four seasons. In fact, every little bird will come fluttering to cheer up your homes, and make your needle chirp, on the first day of its season!
You can choose to stitch the complete pattern of all four birds, or individual ornaments to finish in the way you prefer, adding ribbons, bells, lace and whatever inspires you most.
For each bird there will also be a short text with its name and characteristics. These texts will only be included in the steps of the SAL. When the SAL will be finished you will still be able to download the texts by accessing the link that will be provided in the info sheet of the complete pattern.

From this moment on, the first bird, the Spring Bird, is already available. I chose the beautiful Blue Chaffinch (Fringilla teydea), because I wanted to create a soft contrast with the white honey-scented flowers blooming on the trees these days.
In this only case, you had already met a simpler version of this bird in my Little Birds Calendar, but all the other birds will be new, never seen before in my creations, each perfectly matched to the colors of their season.

fra poche ore sarà Equinozio di Primavera, il momento in cui la notte e il giorno hanno la stessa durata, e allo stesso tempo, la prima delle celebrazioni stagionali di questo nuovo anno.
In questo ultimo periodo ho voluto creare e ho lavorato a un nuovo dolcissimo schema dedicato al mio tema preferito, gli uccellini, i più belli e colorati che la Natura abbia generato. Da questo schema, dedicato proprio alle stagioni e agli uccellini che per il loro piumaggio possono rappresentarle, ho voluto organizzare un mini SAL che ci accompagnerà durante l’anno, fino al prossimo inverno.
Si tratta di un SAL molto semplice, veloce, eppure davvero dolce e di compagnia.
Il SAL è formato da quattro tappe, ognuna scandita dalle quattro stagioni. Infatti, ogni uccellino arriverà svolazzando ad allietare le vostre case, e a far cinguettare il vostro ago, nel primo giorno della propria stagione!
Potrete scegliere di ricamare lo schema completo di tutte e quattro gli uccellini, oppure singoli ornament da rifinire nel modo che preferite, aggiungendo nastrini, campanellini, pizzo e ciò che vi ispira di più.
Per ogni uccellino sarà presente anche un breve testo con il suo nome e le sue caratteristiche. Questi testi saranno inclusi solamente nelle varie tappe del SAL. Quando il SAL sarà terminato potrete comunque scaricare i testi accedendo al link che sarà fornito nella legenda dello schema completo.

Da questo momento è già disponibile il primo uccellino, l’Uccellino della Primavera. Ho scelto il bellissimo Fringuello azzurro (Fringilla teydea), perché volevo creare un contrasto tenue con il bianco dei fiori profumati di miele che sbocciano sugli alberi in questi giorni.
In questo unico caso, avevate già conosciuto una versione più semplice di questo uccellino nel mio Little Birds Calendar, ma tutti gli altri uccellini saranno nuovi, mai visti prima nelle mie creazioni, ognuno perfettamente abbinato ai colori della propria stagione.

History Witches

Dear Stitchers,
Now that the Mystery SAL is over I can show you the finished pattern with the photographs and the official cover – also available to download in the last step of the Mystery SAL for those who participated.
The pattern portrays four historical women – Alice Kyteler, Alice Nutter, Isobel Gowdie and Martha Carrier – who in different centuries and in different countries, were accused of witchcraft and, almost all of them, were killed.

Lo schema ritrae quattro donne storiche che, in secoli diversi e in diversi paesi, sono state accusate di stregoneria e, quasi tutte, sono state uccise.

Next to them I wanted to depict a magical animal, or witch’s familiar, among those considered closest to witches in their magical works at the time of the trials. Where possible, I assigned the witch an animal-familiar that was actually linked to her, according to the historical account of the relevant witchcraft trial.

Accanto a loro ho voluto raffigurare un animale magico, o famiglio della strega, fra quelli ritenuti più vicini alle streghe nelle loro opere magiche all’epoca dei processi. Dove è stato possibile, ho assegnato alla strega un animale-famiglio che risultava effettivamente legato a lei, secondo il resoconto storico del relativo processo per stregoneria.

Within the pattern it is also possible to separately download a short text dedicated to each individual witch, which tells the story of the woman, her events and the epilogue of her life, as well as a little prayer to honor her memory.

Cozy Halloween

Dear Stitchers, I waited a few days to show you all the surprises, since this year there were more than usual. I therefore present to you the latest pattern related to Autumn and Halloween. With this pattern I wanted to continue my line of bookmarks and ornaments, dedicating them to a sweeter and warmer Halloween period. A Halloween to spend surrounded by soft pumpkin-shaped cushions, white pumpkins, a cup of hot chocolate and a good book to read.

Care Ricamine, ho atteso qualche giorno per non mostrarvi tutte le sorprese insieme, dato che quest’anno erano più del solito. Vi presento quindi l’ultim odegli schemi legati all’autunno e ad Halloween. Ho voluto proseguire ancora la mia linea di segnalibri e ornament, dedicandoli ad un periodo di Halloween più dolce e caloroso. Una Halloween da trascorrere circondate di morbidi cuscini a forma di zucca, di zucche bianche, una tazza di cioccolata bollente e un buon libro da leggere.

In this period, every year, I really love reading slightly scary books, and especially books that deal with the stories of medieval witches, preferably fictionalized. I feel I’m very close to them, and I love to turn my thoughts to them as the days pass by at the end of October and the beginning of November.
This set of patterns is specifically aimed at this habit, which I’m sure also belongs to many of you.
In the set you will find a bookmark and an ornament with the white pumpkin, and a bookmark and an ornament with the black cat. He is the perfect witch familiar, and always brings a little magic to the homes he decides to live in.

In questo periodo, ogni anno, amo molto leggere libri un po’ inquietanti, e soprattutto libri che trattano le storie di streghe medievali, meglio se romanzate. Le sento molto vicine, e amo rivolgere loro il mio pensiero mentre i giorni corrono alla fine di Ottobre e agli inizi di Novembre.
Questo set di schemi è proprio rivolto a questa abitudine, che sono sicura appartenga anche a molte di voi.
Nel set troverete un segnalibro e un ornament con la zucchetta bianca, e un segnalibro e un ornament con il gatto nero. È il famiglio perfetto, e porta sempre un po’ di magia nelle case che decide di andare ad abitare.

Let it BOO!

Dear Stitchers,
are you ready for Halloween? This year I had fun drawing the ghosts and I wanted to realize an idea that I had in my mind for some years: a pattern that took up my winter Let it Snow, but in a Halloween version!
So I present to you my LET IT BOO!

Care Ricamine,
siete pronte per Halloween? Quest’anno mi sono divertita a disegnare i fantasmini e ho voluto realizzare un’idea che avevo in mente da alcuni anni: uno schema che riprendesse il mio invernale Let it Snow, ma in versione Halloween!
Vi presento quindi il mio LET IT BOO!

The three larger ghosts are ready to play pranks and scare anyone who comes within their reach, while the three smaller ones, which form three ornaments and can be stitched to create a garland to hang, appear and disappear from oval frames, among little spiders and cobwebs. As with my Let it Snow, also with this pattern you can create many ornaments to create more or less long garlands, but unlike the winter pattern, in which the snowflake to be repeated was only one, this time the little ghosts are all different, and therefore more funny to stitch.

I tre fantasmini più grandi sono già pronti per fare scherzi e spaventare chiunque capiti loro a tiro, mentre i tre più piccolini, che formano tre ornament e possono essere confezionati per creare una ghirlanda da appendere, appaiono e scompaiono da cornicette ovali, fra ragnetti e ragnatele. Come per il mio Let it Snow, anche con questo schema potete realizzare diversi ornament per creare ghirlande più o meno lunghe, ma a differenza dello schema invernale, nel quale il fiocco di neve da ripetere era uno solo, questa volta i tre fantasmini sono tutti leggermente diversi, e quindi più divertenti da ricamare.

School in the Wood

My dear Stitchers,
I’m really happy to wish you a happy first day of Autumn by presenting you the second surprise for this season, a very sweet set dedicated to school. But not at normal school, a School in the Wood! Who knows who lives in that cute little mushroom-house? Who do you think is the teacher of this sweet school that all the little animals, gathered together, are waiting for?
Maybe an old and wise female gnome? Or a fairy who knows all the fairy tales told under the stars and leafy trees? Or even a dwarf with a long, thick white beard? it is certainly a wise entity who knows everything… and animals love to listen to her/him.

Carissime Ricamatrici,
sono davvero felice di augurarvi un buon primo giorno d’autunno presentandovi la seconda sorpresa per questa stagione, un dolcissimo set dedicato alla scuola. Ma non alla scuola normale, alla Scuola nel Bosco! Chissà chi abita in quel fungo-casetta così carino? Secondo voi chi è la maestra o il maestro di questa dolce scuola che tutti gli animaletti, riuniti insieme, stanno aspettando?
Forse una anziana e saggia gnoma? Oppure una fata che conosce tutte le fiabe narrate sotto le stelle e gli alberi frondosi? Oppure ancora un nanetto dalla lunga e folta barba bianca? Di sicuro è un’entità sapiente che conosce ogni cosa… e gli animali amano stare ad ascoltarla.

Anyway, if you want to stitch this set, you can make a cute framed piece with the alphabet, which you could also transform into a stitched folder for notebooks – the A5 format fits perfectly! – then a sweet case for pens and pencils, and finally a tiny bag in which to comfortably slip the pencil sharpener and eraser!
Or perhaps you can simply make an embroidery set, with pin cushion and crochet hook case… you can do what inspires you most, or make something for your children and grandchildren school!
I love this set very much, and to think that I thought I wouldn’t finish it because I wasn’t able to make it how I wanted… just a few changes to the pattern were enough and I fell in love with it!

Di certo, se vorrete ricamare questo set, potrete confezionare un quadretto con l’alfabeto, che potreste anche trasformare in una cartellina ricamata o in una busta per i quaderni – il formato A5 ci sta perfetto! – poi un dolce astuccio per biro e matite, e infine una minuscola borsina nella quale infilare comodamente il temperino e la gomma!
O forse potrete semplicemente confezionare un set da ricamo, con puntaspilli e astuccio per gli uncinetti… insomma, potete fare ciò che vi ispira e vi diverte di più, o realizzare qualcosa per la scuola dei vostri bimbi e nipoti!
Amo moltissimo questo set, e pensare che pensavo di non realizzarlo perché non ero riuscita a renderlo come volevo… sono bastate poche modifiche allo schema e me ne sono innamorata!

Witches Tea Time e Bloody Mary

Good morning dear Stitchers,
on this cold and rainy autumn day I am happy to present you the first two patterns for this season, obviously dedicated to Halloween. The first one quickly became one of my favorites, and I hope you like it as much as I do.
As the moon rises, among white pumpkins and floating candles, two sisters witches sip a magical tea, accompanying it to a slice of cake. It is the magical Witches Tea Time, shared between a potion and a spell, and who knows what secrets the two witches will be talking about… certainly they are preparing for their night flight to peaks and clearings, to celebrate the magical Halloween night… Their night.

Buongiorno care Ricamine,
in questa fredda e piovosa giornata autunnale sono felice di presentarvi i primi due schemi per questa stagione, ovviamente dedicati ad Halloween. Il primo è diventato subito uno dei miei preferiti, e spero che piaccia a voi quanto piace a me.
Mentre sorge la luna, fra candide zucche e candele fluttuanti, due streghe sorelle sorseggiano un tè magico, accompagnandolo a una fetta di torta. È la magica ora del Tè delle Streghe, condiviso fra una pozione e un incantesimo, e chissà di quali segreti staranno parlando le due streghe… di certo si stanno preparando al loro volo notturno verso vette e radure, a festeggiare la magica notte di Halloween… la Loro notte.

These two little witches, different yet similar as two sisters can be, have entered my heart and I believe that other patterns will be created on them… something is already boiling in the pot, indeed, in the cauldron!

Queste due streghine, diverse eppure simili così come possono esserlo due sorelle, mi sono entrate nel cuore e credo che nasceranno altri schemi su di loro… qualcosa bolle già in pentola, anzi, nel calderone!

The second pattern is intentionally creepy as all those in my Legends for Halloween and Little Horrors series, and this year it is dedicated to the scary Bloody Mary. Legend tells that if her spirit is summoned in front of a mirror, by saying her name three times, lit only by a candle, her ghost appears to kill anyone who has summoned it wishes… but you have to be very careful, Bloody Mary is not foolish… sometimes to end up under her lethal hands is the very one who evoked it…

Il secondo schema è inquietante come tutti quelli delle serie Legends for Halloween e Little Horrors, e quest’anno è dedicato alla spaventosa Bloody Mary. La leggenda vuole che se si evoca il suo spirito davanti ad uno specchio, pronunciando il suo nome tre volte, illuminate solo da una candela, il fantasma appaia per uccidere chiunque chi lo ha evocato desideri… però bisogna stare molto attente, Bloody Mary non è sciocca… e certe volte a finire sotto le sue mani letali è proprio colei o colui che l’ha evocata…

Bloody Mary is the Phantom of the Mirror, so on these nights leading up to Halloween, beware of mirrors… and those who live beyond their deceptive surface… ;)

Bloody Mary è il Fantasma dello Specchio, per cui, in queste notti che portano ad Halloween, fate attenzione agli specchi… e a chi abita oltre la loro ingannevole superficie… ;)

These are the first two patterns for this season, but two more will be arriving next week. If you loved my first Salem pattern and her Bridget Bishop, you probably won’t be disappointed with these other two that carry on both the history and the style. I love them very much, I hope you will like them.

Autumn Fox, Poirot and a Tiny Bird

Dear Stitchers,
while waiting to dedicate completely myself to Halloween, I would like to present you these three patterns that I loved designing and finishing. The first one, in all autumnal style, welcomes this September and follows my new line dedicated to bookmarks and animals, which I hope will continue for a long time, because the ideas are many and all really sweet and fun.
After the first set of bookmarks dedicated to bees, this is the first one that accompany the bookmark with an ornament and a small pin cushion, which you can also realize as a needle book. To welcome the first autumn air and the first falling leaves, there is a very sweet and soft fox, offered in two slightly different versions. The fox is very much in love with autumn, so much so that its fur recalls the color of the redder and coppery leaves. She likes to watch them twirl in the air and gently settle on the ground, and above all she loves hiding, camouflaging, among the trunks and piles of leaves, popping out when least expected.

Care Ricamine,
in attesa di dedicarmi completamente ad Halloween, vorrei presentarvi questi tre schemi che ho amato molto disegnare e realizzare. Il primo, tutto autunnale, dà il benvenuto a questo settembre, e segue la mia nuova linea dedicata ai segnalibri e agli animaletti, che mi auguro proseguirà a lungo, perché le idee sono tante e tutte davvero dolci e divertenti.
Dopo il primo set di segnalibri dedicati alle api, questo è il primo che accompagna il segnalibro a un ornament e a un piccolo puntaspilli autunnale, che però potete confezionare anche come porta aghi. A dare il benvenuto alla prima aria d’autunno e alle prime foglie cadenti, c’è una dolcissima e morbidissima volpina, proposta in due versioni leggermente diverse. La volpina è molto innamorata dell’autunno, tanto che il suo pelo richiama il colore delle foglie più rosse e ramate. A lei piace guardarle volteggiare nell’aria e posarsi delicatamente a terra, e soprattutto adora nascondersi, mimetizzandosi, fra i tronchi e i cumuli di foglie, sbucando fuori quando meno ce lo si aspetta.

The second pattern has been waiting to come out for some months, and is dedicated to one of my favorite characters, Agatha Christie’s shrewd and likeable detective, Hercule Poirot. I admit it, I watch and re-watch his films again and again, and I find in Poirot such a pleasant company that I just can’t help it. His little gray cells are unbeatable, and as is well known, Poirot is never wrong – he is always keen to remember it.
The pattern is very simple but I hope you enjoy it and that it can keep you company, perhaps sipping a good cup of tea, and watching, with one eye on embroidery and one on the screen, one of the episodes of his fantastic television series.

Il secondo schema era in attesa di uscire da alcuni mesi, ed è dedicato a uno dei miei personaggi preferiti, il sagace e simpatico detective di Agatha Christie, Hercule Poirot. Lo ammetto, guardo e riguardo i suoi film a ripetizione, e trovo in Poirot una compagnia talmente piacevole che non posso proprio farne a meno. Le sue celluline grigie sono imbattibili, e come ben si sa, Poirot non sbaglia mai – ci tiene sempre a ricordarlo lui stesso.
Lo schema è molto semplice ma spero vi diverta e possa farvi compagnia, magari sorseggiando una buona tazza di tè, e guardando, con un occhio al ricamo e uno allo schermo, una delle puntate della sua fantastica serie televisiva.

The third pattern is a very tiny gem. I wanted to design and stitch in a few versions a very tiny bird, tiny enough to fit in one hand. I wanted it to be pearl gray, and that it could be embellished with the sweetest, most delicate and elegant decorations. I wanted it to be perfect for giving small gifts to friends, or even wedding favors and little gifts, and so it is. This tiny, tiny bird, a symbol of love and kindness, was born, and is available to all of you at an equally tiny cost.
The pattern includes both versions, with hand-dyed yarn from The Gentle Art on antique white linen, and with simple white yarn on hand-dyed gray linen. The second version is embellished with three little pearls.

Il terzo schema è una chicca davvero piccolissima. Volevo disegnare e ricamare in più versioni un uccellino piccolissimo, tanto piccolo da stare in una mano. Volevo che fosse color grigio perla, e che potesse essere abbellito con le decorazioni più dolci, delicate ed eleganti. Volevo che fosse perfetto per fare piccoli regali alle amiche, o addirittura bomboniere e pensierini, e così è stato. Questo piccolo, piccolissimo uccellino, simbolo di amore e gentilezza, è nato, ed è disponibile per tutte voi ad un costo altrettanto piccolo.
Lo schema comprende entrambe le versioni, con filato tinto a mano da The Gentle Art su lino bianco antico, e con semplice filato bianco su lino tinto a mano, grigio. La seconda versione è abbellita con tre piccole perle.

I hope you like these new patterns and that they keep you company in these first days of September, when the leaves begin to turn yellow, when it is nice to spend a few moments embroidering in front of an episode of Poirot, when a tiny bird of the color of fog and pearls chirps, a gift made from the heart to the closest friends.

The Wicked Witch of the West

Dear Stitchers,
Finally is ready the last pattern for this Halloween... and it does not need much explanation. It is obviously inspired by the wonderful film The Wizard of Oz, and in particular by the very famous photograph of that time, which depicts the scary Wicked Witch of the West with her shadow behind her. I drew my full-length version – without the shadow – so it would be nicer to make and hang, during the Halloween period.

finalmente è pronto l'ultimo schema per questo Halloween... e non ha bisogno di molte spiegazioni. È ispirato ovviamente al meraviglioso film Il Mago di Oz, e in particolare alla famosissima fotografia dell'epoca, che raffigura la malvagia e spaventosa Strega dell'Ovest con la sua ombra alle sue spalle. Ho disegnato la mia versione a figura intera, così che fosse più carina da realizzare e appendere, durante il periodo di Halloween.

Dracula and Three Pumpkin Ladies

Care Ricamine,
eccoci con i primi due schemi di questo Halloween, in lieve ritardo perché il lavoro è stato tanto – a tal proposito ringrazio tantissimo le mie ricamatrici Anna Chinotto, Diana Stefan ed Emanuela Dossetto per aver lavorato benissimo come sempre, sarei persa senza di loro!
Quest’anno sono stata folgorata dall’ispirazione di creare uno schema dedicato a un altro dei classici film horror del passato: il primo, l’inimitabile, il grandioso Dracula! Partendo dall’immagine delle sue tre inquietanti e bellissime spose, ho ricreato l’ambientazione del suo castello e ho realizzato Dracula nel modo più classico possibile, col suo mantello nero e rosso e la sua impeccabile eleganza.

Dear Stitchers,
here we are with the first two patterns of this Halloween, slightly delayed because the work was so much – about this I want to say thank you very much to my model stitchers Anna Chinotto, Diana Stefan and Emanuela Dossetto for working perfectly as always, I would be lost without them!
This year I was struck by the inspiration to create a pattern dedicated to another of the classic horror movies of the past: the first, the inimitable, the great Dracula! Starting from the image of his three disturbing and beautiful brides, I recreated the setting of his castle and I made Dracula in the most classic way possible, with his black and red coat and his impeccable elegance.

Dracula sta aspettando le sue vittime, per addentare il loro collo e bere il loro sangue, fino all’ultima goccia, mentre le sue tre mogli si aggirano inquiete nei sotterranei del castello, in attesa di nutrirsi non appena calerà la notte. Si dice che mentre Dracula si tramuti in pipistrello, le sue mogli si possano mutare a piacimento in pipistrelli oppure in lupi ululanti… il loro cupo e lugubre ululato riecheggia intorno al castello dopo la mezzanotte, e fa rabbrividire chiunque lo senta.

Dracula is waiting for his victims, to bite their neck and drink their blood, until the last drop, while his three wives wander uneasily in the basement of the castle, waiting to feed as soon as night falls. It is said that while Dracula turns into a bat, his wives can be changed at will in bats or wailing wolves... their dark and gloomy howling echoes around the castle after midnight, and makes everyone hear it chilled.

Lo schema di Dracula è stato realizzato in due diverse versioni e contiene anche il piccolo vampire per ricamare un divertente ornament per Halloween.

The Dracula pattern is realized in two different versions and includes also the little vampire to stitch a funny Halloween ornament.

Il secondo schema è più colorato ma non meno inquietante. Sono Tre Dame Zucca, dalla testa di zucca e gli abiti scuri, che camminano in processione con una candela accesa durante il crepuscolo delle fredde sere autunnali.

The second pattern is more colorful but not less spooky. They are the Three Pumpkin Ladies, with a pumpkin instead of the head and dark suits, who walk in procession with a lighted candle during the twilight of the cold autumn nights.

Specialmente nella notte di Halloween, le tre Dame possono essere viste vagare nei boschi di querce e castagni, con la loro fiammella accesa, mentre si dirigono alla festa delle zucche e danzano in compagnia del loro Re, Jack O’Lantern.

Especially during Halloween Eve, the three ladies can be seen wandering through the oak and chestnut woods, with their lit flame, as they go for their pumpkins party and dance with their king, Jack O'Lantern.

Come sempre, spero vi piaccia e che sia piacevole da ricamare in queste fredde sere, illuminate dalla tenue luce di una candela.

Happy Halloween and Little Birds Calendar - September - Bluethroat

è arrivato Settembre e con esso anche le prime novità. Innanzitutto, devo annunciare il termine del Mistery SAL Happy Halloween, iniziato poco meno di un anno fa. Con la fine del SAL e la rivelazione dell’ultima tappa, è da oggi disponibile lo schema completo, con tutte le tappe e la cornice. Spero che vi piaccia, perchè devo ammettere che è uno dei miei lavori preferiti.

Dear Stitchers,
September arrived and with it arrived also the first news. First of all, I have to announce the term of the Happy Halloween Mistery SAL, started just less a year ago. With the end of the SAL and the revelation of the last step, the complete pattern is now available, with all the stages together and the cute frame. I hope you like it, because I have to admit that it is one of my favorite works.

Devo ringraziarvi per averlo ricamato insieme durante questo lungo anno, e per aver apprezzato i piccoli disegni mensili. Ora avrete un bel ricamo da appendere per le vostre spaventose e divertentissime feste di Halloween – oppure tanti piccoli ornaments da appendere sul vostro Alberello di Halloween!

Ma veniamo all’altra piccola e cinguettante novità, che ovviamente è l’uccellino di Settembre. Per questo mese ho scelto il bellissimo Pettazzurro, che abita soprattutto l’Eurasia, l’Asia, e certe zone molto limitate del Nord America e dell’Africa. Io lo trovo eccezionale, con la piccola mezzaluna bianca sulla gola e il canto squillante e dolcissimo.
Se volete ricamarlo, lo trovate come sempre nel mio negozio Etsy.

But let's get to the other little and twittering news, which of course is the little September bird. For this month I chose the beautiful Bluethroat, which inhabits mostly Eurasia, Asia, and certain very limited areas of North America and Africa. I find it exceptional, with the little white crescent on the throat and the ringing and sweet song.

Halloween Collection 2016 and Freebie

Carissime amiche ricamatrici, sono finalmente pronta a mostrarvi la mia nuova collezione di schemi dedicati ad Halloween, e come vedete, ci sono un mucchio di novità!
Ho creato quattro nuovi schemi, più uno in regalo per voi, e per ognuno di essi c’è una breve storia.
Il primo che vi presento è The Witch’s Brew. Una strega sta preparando nel suo calderone una pozione magica che ha il potere di farla volare via con la sua scopa!
Si racconta che nel Medioevo, e in tempi ancora precedenti, le Streghe si servissero di unguenti e pozioni di erbe che le aiutassero a lasciare il corpo e a volare al Sabba in forma di spirito.
Queste pratiche furono considerate stregoneria, ma al di là della loro demonizzazione vi erano donne sapienti che, tramite mezzi naturali, riuscivano a vivere esperienze estatiche intense e gioiose…

Dear stitchers and friends, I’m finally ready to show you my new Halloween Collection, and as you see, there are a lot of news!
I created four new patterns, plus one more as a gift for you, and for each pattern there's a brief story.
The first one that I present you is The Witch's Brew. A witch is preparing a magic potion in her cauldron that has the power to make her fly away with her broom!
It is said that in the Middle Ages, and even earlier, the witches made use of ointments and herbal potions that help them to leave the body and to fly to the Sabbath in spirit form.
These practices were considered witchcraft, but beyond this demonization there were wise women who, through natural means, could live intense ecstatic and joyful experiences...

La seconda storia è la quarta che fa parte della mia serie Legends for Halloween, e racconta di una leggenda reale che proviene dal misterioso e inquietante cimitero di St. James, a Liverpool.
Si raccontava che proprio nel cimitero una donna senza testa apparisse ogni notte, a mezzanotte, e scavalcasse la cancellata, spaventando a morte le sentinelle che erano poste di guardia. Nel 1807 due di loro morirono di paura dopo averla vista.
Improbabile allucinazione collettiva… o realtà? Chissà… ;)

The second pattern is the fourth one of my Legends for Halloween series, and tells about a real legend that comes from the mysterious and spooky cemetery of St. James, in Liverpool.
It was said that just in the cemetery a headless woman appeared every night at midnight, and climbed over the gate, scaring the sentinels who were placed on guard. In 1807, two of them died of fear after seeing her.
Unlikely collective hallucination... or reality? Who knows... ;)

Il terzo disegno è il quinto della mia serie Legends for Halloween.
Si dice che una delle forme che assumevano i Messaggeri di Morte fosse quella di un corvo, che si posava su un ramo davanti alla casa di chi avrebbe presto lasciato la vita e gracchiasse per tre volte.
In effetti il corvo che ho rappresentato io ha una valenza un po’ più dolce. E’ un corvo incantato che gracchia nelle notti di luna piena, e possiede la chiave che aiuta le anime dei trapassati ad attraversare le soglie nascoste nel velo che separa i mondi per ricongiungersi con gli amati parenti, che qui sulla terra li aspettano con amore per celebrare insieme la festa di Ognissanti.

The third design I present you is the fifth one of my Legends for Halloween series.
It is said that one of the forms that the Messengers of Death took was that of a crow, which rested on a branch in front of the house of those who would soon leave the life and croaked three times.
Despite this, the crow that I represented has a value a little sweeter. It’s a magical raven that croaks on full moon nights and holds the key that helps the souls of the departed to cross the threshold hidden in the veil between the worlds to reunite with their beloved family, which are on earth and are waiting for them to celebrate together the feast of All Saints.

Infine, il quarto schema è molto più allegro e giocoso. Si tratta della versione femminile di Jack O’Lantern, che nelle leggende irlandesi veniva chiamata Jacky Lantern. Questa entità femminile, simile a jack, faceva dispetti e provocava grandi guai, ma se le si rivolgeva con gentilezza poteva mostrarsi molto buona e aiutare chi si era perso a ritrovare la via di casa.
Adoro la figura di Jacky Lantern, e ne ho creato anche un piccolo freebie per tutte voi. Spero che vi piaccia e che vi porti tanta gioia in queste splendide giornate autunnali!

Finally, the fourth pattern is more cheerful and funny. This is the female version of Jack O'Lantern, which in Irish legends was called Jacky Lantern. Like Jack, this female entity was spiteful and caused great trouble, but if who encountered her was kind to her, she could be very good and helped those who had been lost to find their way home.
I love the image of Jacky Lantern, so I also created a little freebie for all of you. I hope you enjoy it and that it brings you joy and fun in these beautiful autumn days!
