The Mermaid's Chant

Narrano le leggende che un tempo il mare fosse abitato da molte fanciulle dal volto di donna e dalla coda di pesce... le squame che ricoprivano gran parte del loro corpo brillavano d'argento fra le onde azzurre, e chi fosse stato in grado di scorgerle sotto le acque, e magari a udire il loro canto, avrebbe conosciuto la gioia eterna.

Some legends tell that once the sea was inhabited by many maidens with a woman face and fish tail... the many scales that covered their bodies shone in the blue waves, and whoever was able to see them under the water, and maybe to hear the sirens chant, he/she could have known the eternal joy.

Anche le onde avevano un potere magico... si dice che proprio oltre la nona onda del mare, la più bianca, la più pura e spumosa, si celasse il regno incantato, abitato dalle piccole e grandi divinità della Natura. L'onda bianchissima, luminosa sotto ai raggi del sole o della luna, era la soglia che conduceva coloro che la oltrepassavano nell'Altromondo.

Also the waves had a magical power... it is said that just beyond the ninth wave of the sea, the whitest, purest and foamy one, was hidden the enchanted realm, inhabited by the many deities of nature. The white wave, glistening under the sun or moon, was the threshold that led those who was able to pass over it in the Otherworld.

Questi disegni narrano di queste antiche storie... tante piccole e grandi sirene, madri e figlie delle acque, detentrici dei segreti del mare e del canto...
Ho pensato a schemi semplici da portare al mare e da ricamare in spiaggia... e spero che vi porteranno fortuna, così che possiate scorgere la candida nona onda del mare e udire l'incantevole canto delle sirene...
