the stitched story told by this pattern is that of the great Marguerite Lalanne (Marguerite-Antoinette Lalanne), aka Madame Saqui, who was a very famous tightrope walker in France in the 1800s.
Born in February 1786, since she was a little girl Marguerite ardently wanted to learn the art of tightrope walking, following in the footsteps of her acrobatic parents. She secretly took lessons in tightrope walking and after much study and honing her craft in a unique and never seen before way, she performed in public in the circus. But Marguerite didn’t just walk on the rope… she danced on the rope, suspended several meters above the ground, she managed to perform acrobatics, pirouettes and even danced the waltz. For this she was called the rope dancer, and as her stage name she chose Madame Saqui.

la storia ricamata raccontata da questo schema è quella della bravissima Marguerite Lalanne (Marguerite-Antoinette Lalanne), in arte Madame Saqui, che fu una funambola famosissima nella Francia del 1800.
Nata nel febbraio del 1786, sin da ragazzina Marguerite desiderava ardentemente imparare l’arte del funambolismo, seguendo le orme dei suoi genitori acrobati. Prese segretamente lezioni di camminata sulla corda e dopo molti studi e dopo aver affinato la sua arte in un modo unico e mai visto prima, si esibì in pubblico nel circo. Ma Marguerite non camminò solo sulla corda… danzò sulla corda, sospesa a diversi metri da terra riuscì a compiere acrobazie, piroette e addirittura ballò il valzer. As she grew older, she continued to hone her craft and owned her own circus for several years. Among her most important admirers was even the emperor Napoleon Bonaparte.
She danced on the rope until her seventies. She never fell, not even once.
She died peacefully in February 1866, a few days before her eightieth birthday.
She was a revolutionary woman for the circus, one of the most beloved historical women in France.

I also wanted to dedicate this pattern to the circus arts of artists, men and women with exceptional skills, who do not need the use and exploitation of animals to stage breathtaking shows. I hope that the presence of animals in circuses will end. Artists like Madame Saqui, who have chosen the life of the circus, since they have lived for the circus, are the most surprising one can look at, respecting nature and its free creatures.
Ho voluto dedicare questo schema anche alle arti circensi degli artisti, donne e uomini dalle abilità eccezionali, che non hanno bisogno dell’utilizzo e dello sfruttamento degli animali per mettere in scena spettacoli mozzafiato. Mi auguro che la presenza degli animali nei circhi possa finire. I made this pattern in two versions, since I couldn’t choose which one I preferred. I leave the choice to you, because you can order your favorite one or both.
The “Brillian blue” version is more lively and brilliant, and uses the range of blue-turquoise and light blue; the “Vintage green” version has an aged effect, and uses the range of opaque aqua-greens.
