A Christmas Carol, I'll be Home for Christmas and Robins and Snow

Dear Stitchers,
here we are with the new designs dedicated to winter and Christmas, in which I tried to put as much magic and sweetness as possible. In these difficult times we need them so much.
The first pattern I want to present to you is taken from a beloved and very famous novel, which, as you may have guessed, is A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. I wanted to design a particular version of it, dedicating it only to the Three Spirits who visit Scrooge, and work on him the miraculous transformation.
You will then see my reinterpretation of the Spirit of the Past, with her flame and candle snuffer; then the Spirit of the Present, in his great abundance, and finally the disturbing and merciless Spirit of the Future, which remembers the death to Scrooge, and therefore teaches him the value of the time he has left to live.
The pattern is completed by the splendid quote from the book, “I will honor Christmas in my heart and try to keep it all year”.

eccoci finalmente con i nuovi disegni dedicati all’inverno e al Natale, nei quali ho cercato di mettere più magia e dolcezza possibili. In questi tempi difficili ne abbiamo tanto bisogno.
Il primo schema che vi voglio presentare è tratto da un romanzo amato e famosissimo, che come avrete intuito, è A Christmas Carol di Charles Dickens. Ho voluto disegnarne una versione particolare, dedicandola solamente ai Tre Spiriti che fanno visita a Scrooge, e operano su di lui la miracolosa trasformazione.
Vedrete quindi una mia piccola rivisitazione dello Spirito del Passato, con la sua fiammella e lo spegni-candela; poi lo Spirito del Presente, in tutta la sua abbondanza, e infine l’inquietante e impietoso Spirito del Futuro, che indica a Scrooge la sua fine, e quindi gli insegna il valore del tempo che gli rimane da vivere.
Lo schema è completato dalla splendida frase tratta dal libro, “Onorerò il Natale nel mio cuore, e cercherò di custodirlo tutto l’anno”.

Let’s now turn to my beloved Christmas tradition, which I’m carrying on for four years: the representation of one of the most beloved Christmas carols of our times.
After “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” (2017), “Let it Snow” (2018) and “Jingle Bells” (2019), this year I took the inspiration that came to me a year ago, and very “fatally” suitable for this 2020, and I chose the song “I’ll be Home for Christmas”. If you want to listen to the original song, you can find the historical version of Elvis Presley, and also the splendid cover by Michael Bublé.
The pattern is everything that Christmas represents for me: a decorated and warm house, a car - our beloved red Fiat 500 - full of gifts and driven by someone who, finally and with great joy, is “coming home for Christmas”, and finally the warm and welcoming fireplace.

Passiamo ora alla mia adorata tradizione natalizia, che ormai porto avanti da quattro anni: la rappresentazione di uno dei canti di Natale più amati dei nostri tempi.
Dopo “Santa Claus is Coming to Town” (2017), “Let it Snow” (2018) e “Jingle Bells” (2019), quest’anno ho raccolto l’ispirazione arrivata un anno fa, e molto “fatalmente” adatta a questo 2020, e ho scelto la canzone “I’ll be Home for Christmas”. Se volete ascoltarla, potete trovare la storica versione di Elvis Presley, e anche la splendida cover di Michael Bublé.
Lo schema è tutto ciò che per me rappresenta il Natale: una casa addobbata e piena di calore, una macchina – la nostra amata Fiat 500 rossa – carica di regali, guidata da qualcuno che, finalmente e con tanta gioia, sta “tornando a casa per natale”, e infine il caldo e accogliente caminetto acceso.

For this pattern I also designed a small extra ornament that I want to give you, in which there is a window with curtains and the typical Swedish candles lit on the internal windowsill, and snowflakes that fall abundantly outside. I hope you like it.

Finally, I want to present you a new set of ornaments, two of which were featured in the 2018 and 2019 Just Cross Stitch - Christmas Ornaments Issue. The first one, the birdhouse, however, has been completely revisited here: the house now is red, with a robin on top.
The second pattern featured in the magazine, and much loved, is the American Robin, published last year.
I have enriched the two ornaments with two new ones that I hope you like. One of the two new entries, the one with the wrought iron feeder, was born from my everyday life: the feeder is copied from mine, and the image of the robins that eat in and around it, is what I see from my window every day, every winter.

Infine, voglio presentarvi un nuovo set di ornaments, due dei quali sono stati presenti nelle riviste Just Cross Stitch – Christmas Ornaments Issue del 2018 e del 2019. Il primo, la casetta per gli uccellini, è però qui stato completamente rivisitato: la casetta ora è rossa, con un pettirosso sulla cima.
Il secondo schema, che è stato apprezzato molto nella rivista, è il Pettirosso americano, pubblicato l’anno scorso.
Ho arricchito i due ornament con altri due che spero vi piacciano. Uno dei due, quello con la mangiatoria in ferro battuto, è nato dalla mia vita di tutti i giorni: la mangiatoria è copiata proprio dalla mia, e l’immagine dei pettirossi che ci mangiano dentro e intorno, è ciò che vedo dalla mia finestra ogni giorno, ogni inverno.

Happy Christmas

Dear Stitchers,
A whole year has now passed since the beginning of our Happy Christmas Mystery SAL, and those who participated have created, step by step, month by month, the pattern that is now complete and officially released today.
Each of the twelve small patterns that make up the complete design is an image of the quiet and simple joy of Christmas, the most magical moment of the year.
I hope you like it and that it can still keep you company, especially for those who have not followed the Mystery SAL and want to start it right now.
Soon I will start working on new patterns and I promise they will be full of magic!

Ognuno dei dodici piccoli schemi che compongono il disegno nel suo insieme, è un’immagine della gioia serena e semplice del Natale, il momento più magico dell’anno.

Salem Trials, Bridget Bishop 1692, Erzsebet Bathory and The Pumpkin Night

Dear Stitchers,
with my usual delay, I present you the new patterns designed for this period, between Autumn, Halloween and the days in which the dead are honored.
By this last anniversary are inspired my first two patterns, both centered on the events of the Salem Witch Hunt, and its Trials.
Salem Trials - The Witch Hunt is the concentrate of these events, and it is also one of the patterns I personally love the most among those I created until now.
I wanted to represent four of the various witches who were condemned and hanged for witchcraft, while in reality they were just poor women on whom episodes of hysteria and religious fanaticism were unleashed.
Drawn in Puritan period clothes, one of them is the poor Caribbean slave Tituba, you will recognize her by the beautiful dark skin.
The lower part of the pattern reproduces a house similar to one that became famous during the trials, the gallows, and the meeting place of Salem Village.
In the center, a short phrase remembers the women victims of the trials:
“In memory of all the women who were executed during the Salem hunt”.

con il mio solito ritardo, vi presento i nuovi schemi disegnati per questo periodo, fra l’autunno, Halloween e i giorni in cui si onorano i morti. Proprio a quest’ultima ricorrenza sono ispirati i miei due primi schemi, entrambi incentrati sulle vicende della caccia alle streghe di Salem, ovvero ai suoi processi.
Salem Trials – The Witch Hunt è proprio il concentrato di queste vicende, ed è anche uno degli schemi che personalmente amo di più fra quelli che ho creato sinora.
Ho voluto rappresentare quattro delle varie streghe che furono condannate e impiccate per stregoneria, che erano in realtà solo povere donne su cui si erano scatenati episodi di isteria e fanatismo religioso.
Disegnate in abiti d’epoca puritana, una di loro è la povera schiava caraibica Tituba, la riconoscerete dalla bella pelle scura.
La parte inferiore dello schema riproduce una casa simile a una di quelle divenute famose durante i processi, il patibolo, e il luogo d’incontro di Salem Village.
Al centro del ricamo, una breve frase ricorda le donne vittime dei processi:
“In memoria di tutte le donne che furono giustiziate durante la caccia di Salem”.

Still close to the Salem theme, which I propose to draw again in the future, is the second pattern, which portrays the first woman who was sentenced to hang: Bridget Bishop.
Born in England, around 1632, she emigrated to America and settled in Salem. She was widowed three times and married a fourth time, but rumors about her began to swirl around the time of the hunt. Any weirdness that happened, attributable to fortuity, was attributed to her – and to the other women involved - and the fact that she often wore red dresses - not forbidden - helped to put her in a bad light. Even accused of appearing in spirit in the bedrooms of sleeping men, and of hitting and cursing them, she was then arrested, and repeatedly interrogated. Her grumpy and spiteful attitude did not help her, and the poor woman, at the time in her sixties, was then hanged. It was June 10, 1692.
This pattern dedicated to her also starts my new series “Historical Witches”, in which I will try to draw several women, both famous and less known, who were accused of witchcraft in various parts of the world.

Sempre vicino al tema di Salem, che mi propongo di disegnare di nuovo in futuro, è il secondo schema, che ritrae la prima donna che fu condannata all’impiccagione: Bridget Bishop.
Nata in Inghilterra, nel 1632 circa, emigrò in America e si stabilì a Salem. Rimase vedova tre volte e si sposò una quarta volta, ma le voci su di lei cominciarono a girare velocemente nel periodo della caccia. Ogni stranezza che capitava, imputabile al caso, venne attribuita a lei – e alle altre donne implicate – e il fatto che lei usasse portare spesso abiti rossi – non proibiti – contribuirono a metterla in cattiva luce.
Addirittura accusata di apparire in spirito nelle camere degli uomini dormienti, e di colpirli e maledirli, quindi venne arrestata, e ripetutamente interrogata. Il suo atteggiamento scontroso e dispettoso non la aiutò, e la povera donna, all’epoca sessantenne, venne quindi impiccata. Era il 10 giugno 1692.
Questo schema dedicato a lei dà anche inizio alla mia nuova serie “Historical Witches”, nella quale cercherò di disegnare diverse donne, sia famose, sia meno conosciute, che vennero accusate di stregoneria in varie parti del mondo.

Let’s leave this sad theme, referable to a very dark period of our history, and… let’s move straight to the macabre! In fact, I resume my beloved series “Legends for Halloween”, even if in this case it is not a legend, but real history.
I hope I haven’t exaggerated, but as a lover of horror stories, this year I spared myself. Therefore, I wanted to draw a subject that, known when I was a young girl thanks to a board game, in which the mysterious “Vampire Elizabeth Bathory” was a fascinating character, my favorite one, I explored her once I grew up.
She was actually the rich and beautiful Hungarian Countess Erzsebet Bathory - this is the exact name - born in Nyirbator in 1560 and then raised in Transylvania - yes, in Transylvania.
Coming from a family in which the tendency to mental illness, including schizophrenia, was very pronounced, Erzsebet grew up in the same way, showing signs of imbalance from a very young age. She witnessed cruel and merciless scenes, was married just eleven, and grew up giving free rein to her insane and sadistic tendencies.
Indulged by her servants eager to please her, she then came to believe, once she became a woman, that by bathing in the blood of girls she could remain young and beautiful forever.
This led her to kill between 100 and 300 young women, although from a mysterious diary belonged to her, which has been lost, it seems that the number is much higher, about 650. She had even set up a sort of school for aristocratic girls in her castle, where initially she proposed to educate and cultivate their good manners, and then made them disappear.

Lasciamo le tematiche un po’ tristi e riferibili a un periodo davvero molto buio della nostra storia, e… diamoci direttamente al macabro! Riprende infatti la mia serie “Legends for Halloween”, anche se in questo caso non si tratta di una leggenda, ma di vera e propria Storia.
Spero di non aver esagerato, ma da amante di racconti horror, quest’anno non mi sono risparmiata. Ho voluto disegnare un soggetto che, conosciuto da ragazzina grazie a un gioco da tavolo, nel quale la misteriosa “Vampira Elizabeth Bathory” era un personaggio affascinante, il mio preferito, ho approfondito una volta cresciuta.
Lei era in realtà la ricca e bellissima Contessa ungherese Erzsebet Bathory – questo il nome esatto – nata a Nyirbator nel 1560 e poi allevata in Transilvania – sì, proprio in Transilvania.
Proveniente da una famiglia in cui la tendenza a malattie mentali, fra cui la schizofrenia, era molto pronunciata, Erzsebet crebbe nello stesso modo, dando segni di squilibrio sin da piccolissima. Assistette a scene crudeli e spietate, venne fatta sposare appena undicenne, e crebbe dando libero sfogo alle sue tendenze insane e sadiche.
Assecondata dai suoi servitori desiderosi di compiacerla, arrivò quindi a credere, una volta divenuta donna, che bagnandosi nel sangue delle fanciulle sarebbe potuta rimanere giovane e bella per sempre.
Questo la portò a uccidere e far uccidere fra le 100 e le 300 giovani donne, anche se da un suo misterioso diario, andato perso, sembra che il numero sia molto più alto, circa 650. Aveva addirittura istituito nel suo castello una sorta di scuola per fanciulle aristocratiche, dove inizialmente si proponeva di istruire e coltivare le buone maniere delle giovani, e poi le faceva sparire.

Without going into details, I will limit to saying that she bathed in the blood of virgins, but she also used it in face ointments, and it seems that she came to drink it. This made her go down in history as a real vampire, and earned her the nickname “Bloody Countess”.
Finally discovered by the Catholic Church, she was then stopped along with four of her helpers, and ended up in the end that one could easily imagine. She was walled up alive in a small room, atop one of the towers of her castle, with only a hole through which the food passed. She slowly stopped eating, and died four years after her sentence, on August 21, 1614.
A real macabre story, which I guess will not be appreciated by everyone, but which I wanted to draw and made as pleasant as possible, especially for those who, like me, love this kind of “bedtime stories”.

Senza scendere nei particolari, mi limito a dire che nel sangue delle vergini faceva il bagno, ma lo utilizzava anche in unguenti per il viso, e pare che arrivasse a berlo. Questo la fece passare alla storia come una vera e propria vampira, e le valse il soprannome di “Contessa Sanguinaria”.
Scoperta infine dalla Chiesa cattolica, venne quindi fermata insieme a quattro suoi aiutanti, e fece la fine che si potrebbe facilmente immaginare. Venne murata viva in una piccola stanza, in cima a una delle torri del suo castello, con solo un foro dal quale le passavano il cibo. Lentamente smise di mangiare, e morì quattro anni dopo la condanna, il 21 agosto 1614.
Una vera e propria storia macabra, che immagino non sarà apprezzata da tutte, ma che ci tenevo a disegnare e che ho reso in modo il più possibile piacevole, specialmente per chi, come me, ama questo genere di "storie della buonanotte".

Leaving, really this time, the grim themes, I present you my fourth pattern for this Halloween, also one of my favorites. The colors, the atmosphere, the shapes, everything recalls joy, serenity, lightness, but also a bit of the mystery of the Autumn days and nights, close to Halloween.
The pattern is in fact dedicated to The Pumpkin Night. A good and kind witch wanders around her garden, naturally filled with pumpkins - and what could a witch grow? - to choose the most beautiful, the perfect one to be carved and placed on the windowsill of his stone house, with a beautiful candle lit inside.
The ravens help her, fluttering here and there, while the moon and the stars shines in the sky.

Lasciando, davvero questa volta, le tematiche più truci, vi presento il mio quarto schema per questo Halloween, anche questo uno dei miei preferiti. I colori, l’atmosfera, le forme, tutto richiama l’allegria, la serenità, la leggerezza, ma anche un po’ di mistero, dei giorni, e anche delle notti, autunnali e vicine ad Halloween.
Lo schema, infatti, è proprio dedicato alla Notte delle Zucche. Una buona e gentile strega si aggira nel suo orto, naturalmente colmo di zucche – e cosa potrebbe mai coltivare una strega? – per scegliere la più bella, quella perfetta per essere intagliata e posta sul davanzale della sua casetta di pietra, con una bella candela accesa al suo interno.
I corvi la aiutano, svolazzando qua e là, mentre in cielo splende la luce contornata di stelle.

These are my new patterns for this Halloween, and even if I know I have touched the “limit of the allowed”, especially in a field that is not illustration but is cross stitch, I hope you like them and that they give many hours of pleasant stitching, surrounded by candles, scented with dried leaves and apple pie, heated with a warm cinnamon infusion.

Summer Collection 2020

Dear Stitchers, all the new patterns of this strange summer 2020 are finally ready! I made sure to make them as fun and joyful as I can, so that they can brighten your days.
The first summer pattern I want to present you is made up of two small sets that you can buy individually or together. With these patterns you can create two needlework pouches and two pin cushions for your sea holidays.
In the first set, a girl on the beach has just built a splendid sand castle with her bucket, shovel and rake, and before taking a bath in the sea she will take a nap on the deck chair under a cute umbrella. In the distance, a beautiful red and white lighthouse guides the boats back home. In the second set, a lively and impatient child has just worn the costume in one of the beach huts, and is about to jump into the water with his lifebelt, while a seagull looks at him curiously.
On the sea, a boat is sailing the peaceful and relaxing waves.

Care Ricamine, sono finalmente pronti tutti i nuovi schemi di questa strana estate 2020! Ho fatto in modo di renderli più divertenti e gioiosi possibile, così che possano allietare le vostre giornate.
Il primo schema estivo che voglio presentarvi è formato da due piccoli set che potrete acquistare singolarmente, oppure insieme. Con questi schemi potete creare due borsette da ricamo e due puntaspilli per le vostre vacanze al mare.
Nel primo set, una bimba sulla spiaggia ha appena costruito uno splendido castello di sabbia con il suo secchiello, la paletta e il rastrello, e prima di fare un tuffo nel mare farà un pisolino sulla sdraio sotto l’ombrellone. In lontananza, un bel faro bianco e rosso guida le barche a tornare a casa.
Nel secondo set, un bambino vivace e impaziente ha appena indossato il costumino nelle cabine sulla spiaggia, e sta per buttarsi nell’acqua con il suo salvagente, mentre un gabbiano lo guarda curioso.
Sul mare, una barchetta a vela sta solcando le onde pacifiche e rilassanti.

The second pattern for this summer is dedicated to the Guardians of the Sea. The Mermaid, with her magical trident, watches over the seabed and the waves of seas and oceans, and ensures that nothing harmful can penetrate her kingdom.
At her side there are the white and blue fish, guardian of the delicate and precious corals, and the nice red octopus, which wanders in the waters waving its tentacles.

Il secondo schema per questa estate è dedicato ai Guardiani del Mare. La Sirena, con il suo magico tridente, veglia sui fondali e sulle onde del mare e dell’oceano, e si assicura che nulla di nocivo possa penetrare nel suo regno.
Al suo fianco ci sono il pesciolino bianco e blu, guardiano dei delicati e preziosi coralli, e il simpatico polpetto rosso, che si aggira nelle acque agitando i suoi tentacoli.

The third pattern I created for you is the first part of my new Arctic Animals. It resumes my beloved series of animals, which this time come from the frozen Arctic and Antarctic seas and their glaciers. Nothing better of these to cool the summer heat!
You will find the cute walrus, the caribou, the penguin, the arctic fox and above all the sweet narwhal, with its lucky horn.

Il terzo schema che ho creato per voi è la prima parte dei miei nuovi Animali dell’Artico. Riprende le mie amate serie di animaletti, che però questa volta provengono dai gelidi mari artici e antartici, e dai loro ghiacciai. Niente di meglio per rinfrescare il caldo dell’estate!
Troverete il simpatico tricheco, il caribù, il pinguino, la volpe artica e soprattutto il dolcissimo narvalo, con il suo corno porta fortuna.

They are all animals at risk, precisely because of the melting of the glaciers, and I hope that familiarizing with them can make us more aware of the serious environmental problems, so we can try to limit our impact on our beloved Earth, on which we are passing guests.
The second series of Arctic Animals, which will contain other five Arctic and Antarctic animals, will be presented next summer, is already set up and will be sooo funny!

Si tratta di animali a rischio, proprio per lo scioglimento dei ghiacciai, e spero che familiarizzare con loro possa renderci più consapevoli dei gravi problemi ambientali così da cercare di limitare il nostro impatto sulla nostra amata Terra, sulla quale siamo ospiti di passaggio.
La seconda serie di Arctic Animals, che conterrà altri cinque animali artici e antartici, sarà presentata l’estate prossima, è già impostata e sarà molto divertente!

Finally, the last but not the least pattern I want to present to you today is part of my Great Women of History series, in particular the Women of Science. The series began last year with the beloved nurse Florence Nightingale, and continues today with the wonderful Miss Maria Mitchell.
But let me tell you her story.
Born in America, on the Island of Nantucket, on August 1, 1818, Maria grew up with the love for the stars, to which she had been introduced by her father. Curious and attentive child, she studied very much and soon became a teacher. She opened a school of her own, where she taught the children what the moon, stars, constellations, planets were, and they loved them very much.

Infine, l’ultimo ma non meno importante schema che voglio presentarvi oggi, fa parte della mia serie sulle Grandi Donne della Storia, e in particolare le Donne di Scienza. La serie è iniziata un anno fa con la amata infermiera Florence Nightingale, e prosegue oggi con la meravigliosa Miss Maria Mitchell.
Ma voglio prima raccontarvi la sua storia.
Nata in America, sull’Isola di Nantucket, il 1 Agosto 1818, Maria crebbe con l’amore per le stelle, al quale era stata introdotta dal padre. Bambina curiosa e attenta, studiò molto, si fece donna e divenne presto una maestra. Aprì una scuola tutta sua, dove insegnava ai bambini cos’era la luna, le stelle, le costellazioni, i pianeti, e loro le volevano molto bene.

But Maria didn’t want to stop at this, she wanted to continue studying, learning, so she became a librarian. She spent her days reading and studying in the library, and her nights scrutinizing the sky and its infinite luminous creatures. She usually sat at her table, with a diary and pen in her hands, and her eyes fixed on the telescope, looking at the sky for a long time. She knew the constellations, the planets, the stars, the northern lights and all the nocturnal phenomena, and knew all their names.
Then, on the night of October 1, 1847, she saw something extraordinary. A comet!
She rushed to warn her father, and together they immediately wrote a letter which they sent to the best astronomers overseas. The same comet was seen by an Italian astronomer in Rome, Francesco de Vico, but the man saw it two days later, and when Maria’s letter reached its destination, the date of sending admitted no doubts. Maria had seen it first and worldwide recognition was only up to her.
The comet was called “Miss Maria Mitchell’s Comet” and the young astronomer obtained a medal from King Frederick VI of Denmark.
On the medal, her name was engraved, together with a very significant Latin phrase that means:
“Not in vain do we watch the setting and rising of the stars.”
Just observing the stars, Maria was known all around the world, had a brilliant career and excellent roles - especially for a woman of that time - in the field of astronomy, and she is still remembered with affection today.
Her memory, as well as her comet, will live forever.

Ma Maria non voleva fermarsi a questo, voleva continuare a studiare, a imparare, così divenne bibliotecaria. Trascorreva le giornate a leggere e studiare in biblioteca, e la notte a scrutare il cielo e le sue infinite creature luminose. Si sedeva al suo tavolino, con un diario e la penna fra le mani, e gli occhi puntati nel telescopio, e a lungo guardava il cielo. Conosceva le costellazioni, i pianeti, le stelle, l’aurora boreale e tutti i fenomeni notturni, e sapeva tutti i loro nomi.
Poi, la notte del 1 Ottobre 1847, vide qualcosa di straordinario. Una cometa!
Si precipitò ad avvisare il padre, e insieme scrissero immediatamente una lettera che inviarono ai migliori astronomi oltreoceano. La stessa cometa fu vista da un astronomo italiano a Roma, Francesco de Vico, ma l’uomo la vide ben due giorni dopo, e quando la lettera di Maria giunse a destinazione, la data di invio non ammetteva dubbi. Maria l’aveva vista per prima e il riconoscimento mondiale spettava a lei soltanto.
La Cometa venne chiamata “Miss Maria Mitchell’s Comet” e la giovane astronoma ottenne una medaglia dal Re Federico VI di Danimarca.
Sulla medaglia, era inciso il suo nome, e una frase in lingua latina molto significativa:
“Non invano osserviamo il sorgere e il calare delle stelle.”
Proprio osservando le stelle, Maria venne conosciuta dal mondo, ebbe una carriera brillante e ruoli eccellenti – soprattutto per una donna dell’epoca – nel campo dell’astronomia, e ancora oggi la si ricorda con affetto.
La sua memoria, così come la sua cometa, vivranno per sempre.

This pattern, very dear to me, was inspired by Maria herself, by her story and the magnificent illustrations of Diana Sudyka. I highly recommend buying the beautiful illustrated book “What Miss Mitchell Saw”, with the story told by Hayley Barrett.

Little Women, The Frog Prince, Little Jane Eyre and Suffragette

Dear Stitchers,
I should have published these new patterns some time ago, but because of the lockdown here in Italy, due to the Coronavirus, I’ve not had the opportunity to frame the stitched pieces and produce the prints of the covers. Finally, luckily, I got it and I can introduce you to the new releases.
The first is dedicated to a novel that, I’m sure, many of you love very much: Little Women.
The pattern shows the of the four adorable sisters March portraits, Meg, Jo, Beth and Amy, each of them with her own characteristics that makes her different and unique.
Meg has the elegance and composure that characterize her nature, Jo is cheeky and lively, with loose hair and a fiery red dress, Beth is sweet and kind, braided hair and checkered dress, and Amy is just Amy, a bit frivolous but very pretty.

Care Ricamatrici,
avrei dovuto pubblicare questi nuovi schemi qualche tempo fa, ma a causa anche del blocco qui in Italia, a causa del Coronavirus, non avevo avuto la possibilità di fare incorniciare i ricami e di produrre le stampe delle copertine. Finalmente, per fortuna, ci sono riuscita e posso presentarvi le nuove uscite.
La prima è dedicata a un romanzo che, sono certa, molte di voi amano moltissimo: Piccole Donne.
Nel ricamo sono presenti i ritratti delle quattro adorabili sorelle March, Meg, Jo, Beth ed Amy, ognuna con le sue caratteristiche che la rende diversa e unica.
Meg ha l’eleganza e la compostezza che caratterizzano il suo carattere, Jo è sbarazzina e vivace, con i capelli sciolti e l’abito rosso fuoco, Beth è dolce e gentile, i capelli intrecciati e il vestito a quadretti, ed Amy è proprio Amy, un po’ frivola ma molto carina.

Beside them, I designed the house of the author Louisa May Alcott, with its characteristic turquoise door, and I added one of the most beautiful quotes from the book.
I hope you enjoy my version of this novel, and that it may accompany a re-reading of the story, or the vision of the new movie.

Accanto a loro, ho disegnato la casa dell’autrice Louisa May Alcott, con la sua caratteristica porta turchese, e ho aggiunto una delle citazioni più belle del libro.
Spero che la mia versione di questo romanzo vi possa piacere, e che magari possa accompagnare una rilettura della storia, oppure la visione del nuovo film.

The second pattern is dedicated to a fairy tale you all surely know, the Frog Prince, or The Golden Globe. In my interpretation, the beautiful princess is preparing to give a kiss to the toad, that, with its little golden crown, waits confidently!
In the fairy tale, the princess is helped by the toad to recover the precious golden globe, fallen into the well. The frog swims to recover it, and then asks the princess to be welcomed in her castle for some time.

Il secondo ricamo è dedicato ad una fiaba che conoscete tutte, il Principe Ranocchio, o La Sfera D’Oro. Nella mia interpretazione, la bella principessa si appresta a dare un bacio al rospo, che con la sua coroncina attende fiducioso!
Nella fiaba, la principessa viene aiutata dal rospo a recuperare la preziosa sfera d’oro, caduta nel pozzo. La ranocchia nuota fino a recuperarla, e poi chiede alla principessa di accoglierlo nel suo castello per qualche tempo.

The quote from the fairy tale reminds us that when you receive help in the moment of greatest difficulty, then you must not be rude or repudiate those who helped, just as the princess must learn.
Of course, the toad is a beautiful prince, who will reveal himself when the spell is broken.
The embroidery is embellished with golden DMC yarn and also some golden beads, which you can easily find in a good needleshop - or on Amazon, where I purchased them in a package that contains different sizes.

La citazione tratta dalla fiaba ricorda che, quando si riceve aiuto nel momento di maggiore difficoltà, poi non bisogna essere scortesi o ripudiare chi ci ha aiutato, così come la principessa deve imparare.
Naturalmente il rospo è un bellissimo principe, che si rivelerà tale quando l’incantesimo sarà spezzato.
Il ricamo è impreziosito dal filato DMC dorato e da alcune perline dorate anch’esse, che potete facilmente trovare in una buona merceria online – oppure su Amazon, dove le ho acquistate io in una confezione che ne contiene di diverse dimensioni.

The third pattern is dedicated, once again, to my beloved Jane Eyre. This time I wanted to represent the first moment when she, as a child, arrives at the terrible college of Lowood, and rector obliges her to get on the stool and stand for the whole day, since she is considered a liar. The perfidious Mr. Brooklehurst will also invite all the other girls to beware of her, to hate her… but none of this will happen.

Il terzo schema è dedicato, ancora una volta, alla mia amata Jane Eyre. Questa volta ho voluto rappresentare il primo momento in cui lei, bambina, giunge al terribile collegio di Lowood, e viene fatta salire dal rettore su uno sgabello e stare immobile per l’intera giornata, poiché ritenuta una bugiarda. Il perfido Mr. Brooklehurst, inoltre, inviterà tutte le altre bambine a guardarsi da lei, a odiarla… ma nulla di questo succederà.

The scene has always touched me so much, because despite being sad and arousing anger, it is also full of such strength and endurance, demonstrated by Jane, that it is an example for everyone.
A very nice part of the scene takes place when the sweet Helen Burns secretly hands Jane a piece of bread, to support her in that hard moment. From that moment, the two girls will become inseparable friends, until poor Helen dies of tuberculosis.

La scena mi ha sempre colpita tanto, perché pur essendo triste e suscitando rabbia, è anche carica di una tale forza e resistenza, dimostrata da Jane, da essere d’esempio per tutte/i.
Una parte molto bella della scena avviene quando la dolcissima Helen Burns porge di nascosto a Jane un pezzetto di pane, per sostenerla in quel momento così duro. Da quel momento, le due bambine diventeranno amiche inseparabili, fino a quando la povera Helen morirà di tubercolosi.

Finally, the fourth pattern comes out from my great love for the actions that our women ancestors have carried out for us, and is inspired by the famous photo of Anne Kenney and Christabel Pankhurst. The Suffragettes fought so that women all over the world could begin to obtain the same rights as men, first of all the Right to Vote.
In America they obtained it on August 1920, one hundred years ago. These women are a constant example for my life and for the life of many other women, and this pattern is a small tribute to them.
Inside the pattern you will also find a second famous slogan of that time, which instead of “Votes for Women” says “Deeds not Words”, an extremely important warning. So you can choose which slogan you prefer to stitch on the Suffragette’s sheet, or you can stitch the alternative phrase as an ornament.

Infine, il quarto schema nasce dal mio grande amore per le azioni che le nostre antenate hanno svolto per noi, ed è ispirato alla famosa fotografia di Anne Kenney e Christabel Pankhurst. Le Suffragette si sono battute perché le donne di tutto il mondo potessero cominciare ad ottenere gli stessi diritti degli uomini, primo fra tutti il Diritto al Voto.
Queste donne sono per me un costante esempio di vita e questo schema è un piccolo tributo per loro.
All’interno dello schema troverete anche una seconda versione del cartello mostrato dalle due Suffragette, che al posto di “Votes for Women” dice “Deeds not Words”, ovvero “Fatti non Parole”, un monito estremamente importante. Potrete quindi scegliere in che modo ricamare le due attiviste, oppure ricamare a parte la frase alternativa.
Lo schema offre, inoltre, in alternativa la data dell’ottenimento del voto alle donne in Italia, che potete sostituire a quella del voto americano.

Little Koala - Fundraiser for Australia

In these days I happened to scroll through the photographs of Instagram and to be enchanted by the artists and designers who are realizing unique pieces that are sold to donate the proceeds to the millions of Australian animals in difficulty. Putting our creativity at the service of a good cause is always a beautiful thing.
So I thought I wanted to do it too, creating something unique for this purpose.
Yesterday would have been my first day of rest after so much work, but it has become a day of more intense work than ever, because I wanted to create this design, stitch and publish it as soon as possible.
This is my contribution to the cause, a small but very sweet pattern, which I hope will help animals in difficulty.
Since I do not want that the money that will be raised with this pattern reach me, acting as an intermediary – I would not really have time to manage further orders and the respective donations – I decided to open an independent fundraiser.
This raising, therefore, is based on trust but also on the freedom to give what everyone can and wants to give spontaneously.
The “Little Koala” pattern is immediately downloadable at the link below, but please I ask you to make a small donation in return, so that our contributions go where they are needed.
Just a few dollars or euro are enough, what everyone wants or can give, at your discretion.
And if you cannot give anything, but you want to download the pattern, it’s okay too, but please make sure that this fundraiser is known by more people, sharing it and spreading the word, or by stitching the “Little Koala” and letting it travel far.

In questi giorni mi è capitato di far scorrere le fotografie di Instagram e di rimanere incantata dalle artiste e creative che stanno realizzando pezzi unici da vendere per devolvere il ricavato ai milioni di animali australiani in difficoltà. Mettere la propria creatività al servizio di una buona causa è sempre una cosa bellissima.
Così ho pensato che avrei voluto farlo anche io, creando qualcosa di unico con questo scopo.
Ieri sarebbe stato il mio primo giorno di riposo dopo tanto lavoro, ma è diventato un giorno di lavoro più intenso che mai, perché ho voluto creare questo disegno, ricamarlo e pubblicarlo il prima possibile.
Questo è il mio contributo alla causa, uno schema piccino ma molto dolce, che spero possa aiutare gli animali in difficoltà.
Dal momento che non desidero che i soldi che verranno raccolti con questo schema arrivino a me, facendo da tramite – non avrei davvero il tempo di gestire ulteriori ordini e le rispettive donazioni - ho deciso di aprire una raccolta fondi indipendente.
Questa raccolta, pertanto, è basata sulla fiducia ma anche sulla libertà di dare ciò che ognuna/o può e vuole dare, spontaneamente.
Lo schema “Little Koala” è subito scaricabile al link qui sotto, ma chiedo per favore di fare una piccola donazione in cambio, così che i nostri contributi arrivino laddove ce n’è bisogno.

Winter Animals II

Dear Stitchers,
this is the first new pattern of 2020, but it is comes from the affection you showed for its first version, born a couple of years ago. The Winter Animals pattern is in fact one of the ones you loved most, and also one of my very favorites.
For this reason, I decided to create a second set of Winter Animals, which will go to keep company to their little brothers.
In the winter woods, the robin, the fox, the blackbird, the deer and the squirrel are now joined by the black tit, the owl, the hare, the brown bear and the raccoon!
A cheerful family of animals that you can realize as ornaments to decorate your home during winter.

I hope you like it and that each animal will bring joy to your homes!

questo è il primo nuovo schema del 2020, ma nasce dall’affetto che avete dimostrato per la sua prima versione, nata un paio di anni fa. Lo schema Winter Animals è infatti uno di quelli che avete amato di più, e anche uno di quelli a cui io sono più affezionata.
Per questo ho deciso di creare un secondo set di Winter Animals, che andranno a fare compagnia ai loro fratellini.
Nel bosco d’inverno, al pettirosso, la volpina, il merlo, il cervo e lo scoiattolo, si affiancano ora la cincia mora, la civetta, il leprotto, l’orso bruno e il procione!
Una allegra famiglia di animaletti che potete confezionare come ornamenti, per decorare la vostra casa durante l’inverno.

Spero che vi piaccia e che ogni animaletto porti gioia nelle vostre case!
