to honor winter again, and knowing how much you loved them and continue to do so, I wanted to create a new set of sweet Winter Animals, the Winter Animals III! In addition to the previous ten animals are arriving, among snowflakes and ice, the badger, a very sweet hedgehog waiting for a snowflake to land on his nose, then the chipmunk, the little wolf and my favorite one, the tiny tufted titmouse, which unfortunately we don’t have here in Italy but is much loved in other countries, including America.

They are all ready to join your other furry and feathered friends, and to enrich your collection.
I really hope you like them and that they give you a lot of joy when and if you choose to stitch them!

one of my favorite holidays, although usually little considered, is Candlemas, which derives from the ancient Celtic Imbolc festival. Often still in the middle of winter we think about spring, and so we miss special and important moments that are worth remembering. Between midwinter and spring, in fact, there is the moment of the first timid awakening, symbolized by white candles, by fire, by the lactation of the sheep, therefore by the milk which is also white, and by the first little flower, the sweeter and more delicate: the snowdrop. Candlemas is the white holiday, the celebration of candlelight, of wool, of milk, of awakening which however is not yet seen, because it takes place in the womb of the earth.

To honor this moment of the year, letting spring arrive when its time is right, not before, I dedicated one more of my patterns to Candlemas, a Magic Candlemas.
In this set you can stitch the first light candles, the sheep with its thick curly wool, and of course the snowdrops. I wanted to represent them under a fine glass bell, to remember their delicacy, which seems fragile, yet is capable of piercing the ice to blossom in the sun.

A second pattern is coming soon, and I’m sure you’ll love it… you loved Winter Animals I so much, then Winter Animals II… what if I tell you that Winter Animals III are on the way?! Stay tuned and you will meet them soon!

Restate in attesa e li conoscerete presto!

***

You can find my new patterns in my Etsy Shop:

https://www.etsy.com/shop/LittleStitcherShop

or you can order them writing me an email:

info.thelittlestitcher@gmail.com or order.thelittlestitcher@gmail.com

Potete trovare i nuovi schemi nel mio negozio Etsy:

https://www.etsy.com/shop/LittleStitcherShop

oppure potete ordinarli scrivendomi una mail:

info.thelittlestitcher@gmail.com o order.thelittlestitcher@gmail.com
Laura Violethttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09189782937118497209noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7926442155898977533.post-72041026734039678152023-12-10T12:34:00.000+01:002023-12-10T12:34:48.745+01:00Winter Home - RobinDear Stitchers,
I am finally ready to present to you this pattern, born a year ago. I hadn’t finished it and I wanted to work on it and publish it this year. Maybe I got too carried away with a thousand little birds? I’m afraid so, but I wanted to follow my creative impulses, giving shape to everything they suggested.
With this pattern I wanted to combine cute homes with my dear little animals, creating small simple compositions that you can stitch either as a complete pattern or as individual ornaments, choosing your favorite version or stitching them both. Here I combined the beloved robin with a little house that could recall its colors and warmth, together with the spirit of the Christmas holidays.

I’m thinking to propose other patterns similar to this one, perhaps opening a small series of homes combined with little animals, but you will be the one to suggest to me whether it will be a good idea or not, whether you will like them or whether you prefer something different. We will understand it together, day by day.
In the meantime, you can find this pattern as always in my little shop.

I hope you love it and that it can bring that pinch of magic and warmth that I always try to put in my designs, and that I hope reaches each of you.
I wish you all a happy Christmas, with love.

***

You can find my new patterns in my Etsy Shop:

https://littlestitchershop.etsy.com

or you can order them writing me an email:

info.thelittlestitcher@gmail.com or order.thelittlestitcher@gmail.com

Potete trovare i nuovi schemi nel mio negozio Etsy:

https://littlestitchershop.etsy.com

oppure potete ordinarli scrivendomi una mail:

info.thelittlestitcher@gmail.com o order.thelittlestitcher@gmail.com
Laura Violethttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09189782937118497209noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7926442155898977533.post-38505046113683148962023-12-01T14:56:00.004+01:002023-12-01T14:56:58.831+01:00Christmas Love - Just Cross Stitch Ornament 2022 - FREEHello Stitchers,
I’m very happy to present to you these two sets of patterns dedicated to this Christmas! I tried to make them as sweet and beautiful as possible and I really hope you will like them.
The first one is my version of the classical Christmas Snow Balls, and is made up of three typical snow globes, the first one with snowmen celebrating together with many tiny red cardinals, the second one with a little red house – as you will have seen from many of my patterns, I love drawing them – and the third one is a little and very quick to stitch version of the Advent Candles.

Carissime Ricamine,

If you don’t have time to stitch the larger Advent Candles, you can also choose to stitch these, one for each Sunday of Advent, “lighting” with the stitches its flame, each one at its right time.
The set opens a series of other Christmas snow balls that will be released in the coming years, and that I can’t wait to realize (a few are already designed for next year!).

The second set of patterns is my favorite! The series of patterns similar to Robins and Snow dedicated to robins and released a few years ago continues, but this year the central theme together with robins are the stars! Red stars for Christmas, Advent or simply winter season, the same color as scarlet berries in winter.

The set includes the robin holding a beautiful red star with his beak, the smaller one who has landed in the centre of a large empty star, then two robins playing next to another star and finally, three very sweet robins swinging on the swing, next to a tiny star. Their purpose is very important: to bring sweetness and joy wherever they are stitched and hung among the Christmas decorations!
What can I say, I love them, I hope you like them too! :)

But the surprises aren’t over yet, there will still be a very cute pattern coming out in the next few days… and a special gift for all of you! And obviously our Advent Candle SAL will begin soon. So, for now I wish you a joyful start to December, and I’ll see you on Sunday!
A big hug,
Laura

A presto!
Un grande abbraccio,
Last year I proposed to you for the first time a pattern dedicated to the Advent Candles, and you loved it very much. I loved it as well, so much that I had other inspirations for similar patterns to propose to you every year, thus starting our own tradition for the Advent time to share together. Every year I will offer you a new version of the four Advent Candles, which you can embroider to participate in the “Advent Candles SAL”, but you can also choose the pattern of a previous year, if you prefer.
First of all, here you can download the free PDF that I prepared for you, with the explanation of the Advent Candles tradition: Advent Candles Tradition
The PDF to download is always also included in the pattern.
And then, here we come to the point, the pattern I designed this year for the 2023 SAL. I wanted to combine two symbols linked to Advent: the candles, obviously, but also the stars, which recall the Advent Star which shines in the windows of Northern Europe in the season of Advent. I really liked the two together, and I hope you like them too.

Below you will find all the information to participate in the SAL and the dates of the lighting of the candles:

ADVENT CANDLES SAL 2023
Let’s light together the Advent Candles

Starting from the first Advent Sunday, until the last one, the one before Christmas Eve, we will light together the four Advent Candles, stitching their flame in a magical and symbolic gesture.

* The first flame will be lit on Sunday December 3th 2023.
* The second flame will be lit on Sunday December 10th.
* The third flame on Sunday December 17th.
* The fourth and final one will be lit on Sunday December 24th.

To participate, all you have to do is stitch the Advent Starry Candles pattern, or the Advent Magic Candles pattern released in 2022 if you prefer, in order to have the candles ready to be “lit” during the Advent time. You can also stitch the entire candle on its own Sunday.
If you can’t do it in time, you can easily stitch according to your time and still participate, with the heart, in the lighting of the Advent Candles.
However, the SAL will be repeated in the coming years, so that all those who want to participate can do so at the right time.

You can also accompany the stitching, or the lighting of the stitched flames, with the lighting of real wax candles, by getting yourself a beautiful Advent Wreath, or a simple tray in which to place four small candles, decorated with a few sprigs of evergreen and some berries – real or fake, as you prefer – according to the splendid ancient custom of Advent Candles.

If you want, you can share your progress and above all, spread the light of Advent by photographing your flame and posting it on your pages and on the FB page The Little Stitchers’ Club, using the hashtag #adventcandlessal2023.

I wish you all a happy Advent Time, and that the light of the Candles brings Hope, Peace, Joy and Love into your lives.

***

You can find my new patterns in my Etsy Shop:

https://www.etsy.com/shop/LittleStitcherShop

or you can order them writing me an email:

info.thelittlestitcher@gmail.com or order.thelittlestitcher@gmail.com

Potete trovare i nuovi schemi nel mio negozio Etsy:

https://www.etsy.com/shop/LittleStitcherShop

oppure potete ordinarli scrivendomi una mail:

info.thelittlestitcher@gmail.com o order.thelittlestitcher@gmail.com
Laura Violethttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09189782937118497209noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7926442155898977533.post-14807212166168120162023-10-16T12:06:00.000+02:002023-10-16T12:06:59.114+02:00History WitchesDear Stitchers,
Now that the Mystery SAL is over I can show you the finished pattern with the photographs and the official cover – also available to download in the last step of the Mystery SAL for those who participated.
The pattern portrays four historical women – Alice Kyteler, Alice Nutter, Isobel Gowdie and Martha Carrier – who in different centuries and in different countries, were accused of witchcraft and, almost all of them, were killed.

Next to them I wanted to depict a magical animal, or witch’s familiar, among those considered closest to witches in their magical works at the time of the trials. Where possible, I assigned the witch an animal-familiar that was actually linked to her, according to the historical account of the relevant witchcraft trial.

Within the pattern it is also possible to separately download a short text dedicated to each individual witch, which tells the story of the woman, her events and the epilogue of her life, as well as a little prayer to honor her memory.
I sincerely thank all those who participated in the SAL, you were so many! From today the pattern can be purchased complete, always in my Etsy shop.
A big hug to everyone and happy Halloween!

I therefore present to you the latest pattern related to Autumn and Halloween. With this pattern I wanted to continue my line of bookmarks and ornaments, dedicating them to a sweeter and warmer Halloween period. A Halloween to spend surrounded by soft pumpkin-shaped cushions, white pumpkins, a cup of hot chocolate and a good book to read.

In this period, every year, I really love reading slightly scary books, and especially books that deal with the stories of medieval witches, preferably fictionalized. I feel I’m very close to them, and I love to turn my thoughts to them as the days pass by at the end of October and the beginning of November.
This set of patterns is specifically aimed at this habit, which I’m sure also belongs to many of you.
In the set you will find a bookmark and an ornament with the white pumpkin, and a bookmark and an ornament with the black cat. He is the perfect witch familiar, and always brings a little magic to the homes he decides to live in.

At this point I can’t wait to show you the witch from the fourth step of our Mystery SAL, she’s my favorite of the ones I’ve reproduced, and I’m sure you will like her too! See you very soon!

A prestissimo!

***

You can find my new patterns in my Etsy Shop:

https://www.etsy.com/shop/LittleStitcherShop

or you can order them writing me an email:

info.thelittlestitcher@gmail.com or order.thelittlestitcher@gmail.com

Potete trovare i nuovi schemi nel mio negozio Etsy:

https://www.etsy.com/shop/LittleStitcherShop

oppure potete ordinarli scrivendomi una mail:

info.thelittlestitcher@gmail.com o order.thelittlestitcher@gmail.com
Laura Violethttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09189782937118497209noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7926442155898977533.post-65667556873875013492023-09-30T01:51:00.001+02:002023-10-03T23:23:48.200+02:00Let it BOO!Dear Stitchers,
are you ready for Halloween? This year I had fun drawing the ghosts and I wanted to realize an idea that I had in my mind for some years: a pattern that took up my winter Let it Snow, but in a Halloween version!
So I present to you my LET IT BOO!

Vi presento quindi il mio LET IT BOO!

The three larger ghosts are ready to play pranks and scare anyone who comes within their reach, while the three smaller ones, which form three ornaments and can be stitched to create a garland to hang, appear and disappear from oval frames, among little spiders and cobwebs. As with my Let it Snow, also with this pattern you can create many ornaments to create more or less long garlands, but unlike the winter pattern, in which the snowflake to be repeated was only one, this time the little ghosts are all different, and therefore more funny to stitch.

The surprises aren’t over yet…
The second historical witch from the History Witches Mystery SAL will be available very soon, and also another small set, created for a sweeter and warmer Halloween.
See you very soon and a happy start of October to everyone!

***

You can find my new patterns in my Etsy Shop:

https://www.etsy.com/shop/LittleStitcherShop

or you can order them writing me an email:

info.thelittlestitcher@gmail.com or order.thelittlestitcher@gmail.com

Potete trovare i nuovi schemi nel mio negozio Etsy:

https://www.etsy.com/shop/LittleStitcherShop

oppure potete ordinarli scrivendomi una mail:

info.thelittlestitcher@gmail.com o order.thelittlestitcher@gmail.com
Laura Violethttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09189782937118497209noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7926442155898977533.post-1999386212179360902023-09-23T01:31:00.000+02:002023-09-23T01:31:26.120+02:00School in the WoodMy dear Stitchers,
I’m really happy to wish you a happy first day of Autumn by presenting you the second surprise for this season, a very sweet set dedicated to school. But not at normal school, a School in the Wood! Who knows who lives in that cute little mushroom-house? Who do you think is the teacher of this sweet school that all the little animals, gathered together, are waiting for?
Maybe an old and wise female gnome? Or a fairy who knows all the fairy tales told under the stars and leafy trees? Or even a dwarf with a long, thick white beard? it is certainly a wise entity who knows everything… and animals love to listen to her/him.

Carissime Ricamatrici,
Chissà chi abita in quel fungo-casetta così carino?

Anyway, if you want to stitch this set, you can make a cute framed piece with the alphabet, which you could also transform into a stitched folder for notebooks – the A5 format fits perfectly! – then a sweet case for pens and pencils, and finally a tiny bag in which to comfortably slip the pencil sharpener and eraser!
Or perhaps you can simply make an embroidery set, with pin cushion and crochet hook case… you can do what inspires you most, or make something for your children and grandchildren school!
I love this set very much, and to think that I thought I wouldn’t finish it because I wasn’t able to make it how I wanted… just a few changes to the pattern were enough and I fell in love with it!

I hope you like it and that it brings, as always, a pinch of joy and magic into your days!
And now I’m back to work… other patterns are on the way, but they will all be dedicated to Halloween!
And above all… stay tuned because in some hours the first witch of the History Witches Mystery SAL will be revealed… ;)
See you soon and happy stitches to you all!

A presto e buone crocette a tutte!

***

You can find my new patterns in my Etsy Shop:

https://www.etsy.com/shop/LittleStitcherShop

or you can order them writing me an email:

info.thelittlestitcher@gmail.com or order.thelittlestitcher@gmail.com

Potete trovare i nuovi schemi nel mio negozio Etsy:

https://www.etsy.com/shop/LittleStitcherShop

oppure potete ordinarli scrivendomi una mail:

info.thelittlestitcher@gmail.com o order.thelittlestitcher@gmail.com
Laura Violethttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09189782937118497209noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7926442155898977533.post-57181788731598342312023-09-18T14:24:00.000+02:002023-09-18T14:24:24.150+02:00History Witches Mystery SALDear Stitchers, I am pleased to present to you my History Witches Mystery SAL, dedicated to the historical witches of our past.
The History Witches Mystery SAL is organized into five surprise steps that will accompany us, towards Halloween. The pattern portrays four historical women, who in different centuries and in different countries were accused of witchcraft and, almost all, were executed.
Next to them I wanted to depict a magical animal, or witch’s familiar, among those considered closest to witches in their magical works at the time of the trials. Where possible, I assigned the witch an animal-familiar that was actually linked to her, according to the historical account of the relevant witchcraft trial.
For each step dedicated to each of the four witches, is also included a short text that tells the story of the woman, her events and the epilogue of her life.
Each text also contains a little prayer to honor her memory.
Below you can see the first Mystery SAL step, with the pattern structure.

The texts on the short story of each witch will be included only in the individual steps of the Mystery SAL. When the SAL will be finished and the complete pattern will be released, the texts relating to the four witches can be downloaded separately by accessing the link provided on the instructions page.

The History Witches Mystery SAL begins on September 18th and will end with the last step, on October 14th.
The various steps, released one per week, on Saturday, which has always been considered the day of the witches, can be downloaded from the links provided in the first PDF sent. The links will only be active from the date indicated.
By ordering the History Witches Mystery SAL you will therefore receive the PDF containing the first step and the page with the links to the subsequent steps, which you will have to download independently.

Attention: For any problems with the download of the various steps, you can write to me and I will send you the single PDF files attached to an email, each on the indicated date.

with a little delay, mainly due to the renovation work we did at home which prevented me from working continuously on new projects, I finally present you the patterns of this bright and warm summer!
The first design is special and precious, and tells of a treasure that lives in the depths of the sea, but perhaps also within ourselves. The most precious treasure is hidden inside its shell, a pearl of the colors of the moon, which contains within itself the most magical essence of one’s being.

Carissime Ricamine,

The precious pearl is watched over by a tiny seahorse and starfish, but also by a very sweet mermaid, who holds out her hands to protect it from any danger.
It’s also our charge to find that pearl and protect it, to keep it alive and shining. Both in the boundless sea and within ourselves.

Tanto nello sconfinato mare, quanto dentro noi stesse.

The second pattern continues my beloved animals series, but this time it’s tinged with light! They are the Stars Animals, each linked to a particular constellation that accompanies it within its design. The constellations and therefore the animals that represent them are the Ursa Minor – Minor Bear, the Vulpecula – Little Fox, the Delphinus – Dolphin, the Columba – Dove, and finally he, the king of the constellations, Pegasus.

For added magic, you could even stitch them with glow-in-the-dark yarn. In this case I preferred to choose a very bright white that tends slightly to blue, to make well the brightness of the stars that shine in the sky at night.
Each constellation has its own message to bring and its magic to infuse... it’s up to us to listen to them and receive their luminous gifts.

The third pattern continues my famous and much loved series on bees. Every year I think I run out of ideas, and every year new ones come up, so much so that I have to dose them and postpone some to the following year! This first pattern that continues the series combines the kingdom of bees with the magic of the moon. Bees and the moon have always been connected in ancient myths.

In this drawing, which should have been called Honey Moon but which then “chose to be called” Blessed Bee, I wanted to include all the phases of the moon in three small patterns that you can create as you prefer: the triple moon, the full moon and the crescent, growing or waning moon. I created a pincushion, an ornament and a cute needlebook. The moon maiden of the larger pattern is the one who mediates between the world of the moon, that of the bees and ours. Her blessing is filled with light and love.

Finally the fourth pattern is the sweetest of all, literally. So, what’s your favorite honey? Mine is the acacia one, but I love them all, and I’ve tried so many!
In this design I wanted to represent the different types of honey, the best known and most appreciated, each with its own pretty jar: acacia, millefiori and obviously the chestnut.

How about embroidering them, accompanying the pleasant afternoon with a nice slice of toasted bread with a layer of sweet honey?
Together with the pattern you will also find some delicious and simple recipes to taste honey in different ways.

I hope you like the new patterns and that they always bring that touch of magic and happiness that you know so well – and I thank you for the beautiful messages you write to me, they are always a great gift for me.
I wish you a beautiful summer and I embrace you, one by one!

***

You can find my new patterns in my Etsy Shop:

https://www.etsy.com/shop/LittleStitcherShop

or you can order them writing me an email:

info.thelittlestitcher@gmail.com or order.thelittlestitcher@gmail.com

Potete trovare i nuovi schemi nel mio negozio Etsy:

https://www.etsy.com/shop/LittleStitcherShop

oppure potete ordinarli scrivendomi una mail:

info.thelittlestitcher@gmail.com o order.thelittlestitcher@gmail.com
Laura Violethttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09189782937118497209noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7926442155898977533.post-9850687399100535872023-06-12T13:45:00.001+02:002023-06-12T13:59:44.860+02:00 Make a Wish...Close your eyes, make a wish… and blow…
There is a great magic in this small deed that each of us has learned since childhood.
And this new set of patterns is dedicated to this little magic, in which the dear rabbit expresses many wishes. Each of these patterns is unique and particular, the dandelions are always different and each of these designs has a meaning and a magic of its own. A magic that can be embroidered and created, stitch by stitch.

The first one shows the little rabbit who, raised on its legs, has just expressed its wish and is blowing the dandelion;
The second pattern is an ornament or a pincushion with the dandelions intact, many dandelions, many wishes still to be expressed;
The third one is a very sweet wish holder. It has a small pocket sewn on the back where you can insert a folded sheet of paper, where your wish has been expressed and written;
Finally, the last pattern shows the rabbit which, with a great leap, jumps over the dandelions, into a meadow covered with them.

Il primo schema mostra il leprotto che, sollevato sulle zampette posteriori, ha appena espresso il suo desiderio e sta soffiando il soffione;
Il secondo schema è un ornament o un puntaspilli con i soffioni intatti, tanti soffioni tanti desideri ancora da esprimere;

What is your wish? Mine is that you like this sweet set, and that it may bring you lots of luck and fulfilled wishes :)

About the photographs, I would have liked to put some dandelions, but unfortunately there were very few of them and the only one I caught was blown away by a breath of wind. So I chose two splendid wild carrot flowers, hardly anyone notices them, yet I find them among the most beautiful flowers ever!

The surprises have just begun…
For the moment, I wish you a happy summer starting and many bright and beautiful days!

***

You can find my new patterns in my Etsy Shop:

https://www.etsy.com/shop/LittleStitcherShop

or you can order them writing me an email:

info.thelittlestitcher@gmail.com or order.thelittlestitcher@gmail.com

Potete trovare i nuovi schemi nel mio negozio Etsy:

https://www.etsy.com/shop/LittleStitcherShop

oppure potete ordinarli scrivendomi una mail:

info.thelittlestitcher@gmail.com o order.thelittlestitcher@gmail.com
Laura Violethttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09189782937118497209noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7926442155898977533.post-82197900173688102412023-06-02T12:17:00.000+02:002023-06-02T12:17:02.942+02:00Summer Flowers MaidensGood morning dear Stitchers,
summer is near and soon I will start showing you the new patterns for these bright and colorful months.
The first one that is ready for you is born as a continuation of my dear Spring Flowers Maidens. You have loved them a lot in recent years and I got the idea of proposing others dedicated to summer flowers. They are colorful, joyful and instill happiness just by looking at them. I present them to you:

The Forget-me-nots Maiden, with her little dress of the same light blue and turquoise color as their petals, a girl who loves water and the blue sky;
the Poppies Maiden, my absolute favourite, with her scarlet flowers with orange hues;
the Sunflowers Maiden, who loves being in the sun so much and turning around to absorb all its rays, like her sunflowers do;
and finally the fourth pattern some of you may have already seen, because it was published in Just Cross Stitch magazine in the Spring of 2015. There it was called Primrose Maiden, but this cute maiden always had the air of being an absolutely summery girl, surrounded from wild flowers. Therefore, she now became the Wildflower Maiden, and with her comes her little pincushion.
I love them all and I hope you love them too, they will certainly be able to keep their little spring sisters company!

La Fanciulla dei Nontiscordardime, con il suo vestitino dello stesso colore celeste e turchese dei loro petali, una fanciulla che ama l’acqua e l’azzurro del cielo;
la Fanciulla dei Papaveri, la mia preferita in assoluto, con i suoi fiori scarlatti dalle sfumature aranciate;
la Fanciulla dei Girasoli, che ama tanto stare al sole e voltarsi per assorbire tutti i suoi raggi, come fanno i suoi girasoli;

This is just the beginning of my new summer collection, in about a week I’ll show you one of the sweetest sets I’ve ever designed, I hope you will love it… are you ready to make so many wishes…?
See you soon and happy June!

A presto e felice Giugno!

***

You can find my new patterns in my Etsy Shop:

https://www.etsy.com/shop/LittleStitcherShop

or you can order them writing me an email:

info.thelittlestitcher@gmail.com or order.thelittlestitcher@gmail.com

Potete trovare i nuovi schemi nel mio negozio Etsy:

https://www.etsy.com/shop/LittleStitcherShop

oppure potete ordinarli scrivendomi una mail:

info.thelittlestitcher@gmail.com o order.thelittlestitcher@gmail.com
Laura Violethttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09189782937118497209noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7926442155898977533.post-35459192375291033102023-05-03T19:38:00.000+02:002023-05-03T19:38:31.412+02:00Madame Saqui - The Rope DancerDear Stitchers,
the stitched story told by this pattern is that of the great Marguerite Lalanne (Marguerite-Antoinette Lalanne), aka Madame Saqui, who was a very famous tightrope walker in France in the 1800s.
Born in February 1786, since she was a little girl Marguerite ardently wanted to learn the art of tightrope walking, following in the footsteps of her acrobatic parents. She secretly took lessons in tightrope walking and after much study and honing her craft in a unique and never seen before way, she performed in public in the circus. But Marguerite didn’t just walk on the rope… she danced on the rope, suspended several meters above the ground, she managed to perform acrobatics, pirouettes and even danced the waltz. For this she was called the rope dancer, and as her stage name she chose Madame Saqui.

As she grew older, she continued to hone her craft and owned her own circus for several years. Among her most important admirers was even the emperor Napoleon Bonaparte.
She danced on the rope until her seventies. She never fell, not even once.
She died peacefully in February 1866, a few days before her eightieth birthday.
She was a revolutionary woman for the circus, one of the most beloved historical women in France.

I also wanted to dedicate this pattern to the circus arts of artists, men and women with exceptional skills, who do not need the use and exploitation of animals to stage breathtaking shows. I hope that the presence of animals in circuses will end. Artists like Madame Saqui, who have chosen the life of the circus, since they have lived for the circus, are the most surprising one can look at, respecting nature and its free creatures.

I made this pattern in two versions, since I couldn’t choose which one I preferred. I leave the choice to you, because you can order your favorite one or both.
The “Brillian blue” version is more lively and brilliant, and uses the range of blue-turquoise and light blue; the “Vintage green” version has an aged effect, and uses the range of opaque aqua-greens.
To you the choice!

spring has already begun, and in a few days it will be Easter, I’m a bit late with the new patterns, but precisely because we are at the very beginning of the spring season I hope you will appreciate them anyway. I needed to recharge myself with writing and a different kind of creativity, but I’m finally ready with a lot of sweet new releases.
I realize that you’ve already seen many, perhaps too many, patterns about rabbits, but the spring and Easter bunny is an unfailing classic – which, unlike many designers, I was short on – so I wanted to draw it too. I therefore propose my versions, combined with the various shades of antique pink that I love very much.

First of all, this sweet set combines rabbits with roses. Blooming roses, blossoms and butterflies, and the kind Miss Rose Rabbit, a gardener bunny, who picks a rose blossom for you and offers it to you with her affectionate little eyes.

My series dedicated to reading-patterns also continues, that is about my seasonal bookmarks linked to my beloved little animals.
This spring was born a white rabbit with pink flowers, a duck with turquoise flowers, and my favorite, a simple but cute sparrow, with white plum blossoms.

They can also be embroidered for a gift, perhaps to some little girl or boy who goes to school and who will be able to keep the mark in her/his books, learning the alphabet.
The ornament that accompanies the bookmarks can decorate an Easter tree, together with painted eggs and fabric flowers.

The surprises are not finished, another pattern, dedicated, once again, to the women history, will be ready in some days, just the time to get it framed…
I hope you like the new patterns, and I take this opportunity to wish you a joyous spring and a happy Easter, or a splendid Rebirth!
With love,
Laura

today in Italy it seems that spring is behind the corner, but tomorrow the cold winter will return – for my personal joy – so I take the occasion today to show you one of the first little surprises of these days: one of my very first sets, “My Sweet Spring”, composed by four patterns and a rabbit shape model, is now a FREEBIE for you all.
Feel free to download it from the link below, give it to friends, stitch it and make what you want with the little needlebooks and pincushion – or many little spring ornaments – you can create with it!
You can download it here:
MY SWEET SPRING - FREE

also this year we are approaching those which in our Italian tradition are considered the coldest days of the year - January 29, 30 and 31 – associated to the Legend of the (female) Blackbird, which was once white and turned black to warm up over a lit fireplace.
A few years ago I created two cute ornaments dedicated to this legend, with the black and white blackbird, and this year I wanted to take up the same theme and create even the smallest version, in the shape of my beloved bookmarks. Perfect for reading a book on the coldest days of the year!
For the occasion, I also propose the legend again, which you will also find inside the pattern.

THE DAYS OF THE BLACKBIRD
An Italian legend

The story tells that once every blackbird had feathers as white and soft as snow. During the winter they flew in search of food to put away in their warm nests, so they could take refuge inside them for the whole month of January and survive the frosts, and only the first days of February they had the courage to go out, when the sun became warm, the snow was beginning to melt, and the coldest days were past.
One year it happened that shortly before the end of January, a young female blackbird came out of her nest and, believing she had fooled the winter, staying well-hidden during all its coldest days, began fluttering, singing and whistling to make fun of it.
The touchy winter got angry, and it decided to gather its last strength to unleash a terrible storm. Cold, relentless winds lashed the trees, the ice pinned everything in its icy grip, and the birds’ nests were swept away.
The blackbird trembled and shivered, and to resist that merciless cold she took refuge in a chimney, from which the warm smoke of a burning fireplace came out.
She remained holed up in the warmth for three days and three nights, and when the storm died down and the dawn of February 1st finally came, the blackbird peeped out of the chimney and, timidly, began to fly again. The soot, however, had blackened her feathers, which were now no longer white but a shiny, intense black.
Since that day the blackbirds are all black, and the last three days of January – 29, 30 and 31 – which are traditionally the coldest and most tormenting of the year, are called the Days of the Blackbird.

Introduction to the Thirteen Moons

During the course of a solar year, twelve full moons appear in the sky, becoming thirteen about every three years. Lunations can be calculated simply by following the lunar year – starting from October, as the Celtic peoples did, or from January – or in association with the solar months.
Although it is more natural to follow the lunar year, and locate the thirteenth lunation – when it is present – in the last one that completes the cycle, restoring order and balance, and resetting the duration of the cycle itself when it would end too soon – since the lunar month lasts fewer days than the solar one – some traditions prefer to experience the lunations exclusively in relation to the solar months. In this case, each full moon is the one that belongs to a particular month and incorporates its seasonal characteristics, as well as activities and symbols.
According to this method based on the solar year, the thirteenth full moon is the one that appears for the second time during one month. It can therefore appear at any time of the year, and is considered particularly magical, as well as related to destiny and magic.

The twelve full moons have taken on particular names over time, which are said to have originated mostly within certain Native American tribes, but which are now recognized and used in many places around the world.
To create these patterns, I wanted to draw directly on these names, choosing among the different variants the ones that seemed to me the most beautiful and suitable for being represented and embroidered.
The Thirteenth Moon, which traditionally takes the name of Blue Moon, will instead be different from what one might expect, and will recall a strong symbol of magic and destiny, also inherent in the number thirteen.

***

You can find my new patterns in my Etsy Shop:

https://www.etsy.com/shop/LittleStitcherShop

or you can order them writing me an email:

info.thelittlestitcher@gmail.com or order.thelittlestitcher@gmail.com

Potete trovare i nuovi schemi nel mio negozio Etsy:

https://www.etsy.com/shop/LittleStitcherShop

oppure potete ordinarli scrivendomi una mail:

info.thelittlestitcher@gmail.com o order.thelittlestitcher@gmail.com
Laura Violethttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09189782937118497209noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7926442155898977533.post-67581857423968784162022-12-08T23:58:00.000+01:002022-12-08T23:58:46.590+01:00Christmas Time 2022 - Part IIDear Stitchers,
another sweet little pattern set has just arrived from the snowy wood, and it has scattered snowflakes everywhere! To draw it I was completely inspired by some photographs that I have loved a lot for several years. In these photographs, a deer stretches its neck, and a hare stands up balancing on its hind legs to grab some red berries and eat them greedily. They are the most coveted and tasty winter food, and provide for the survival of the animals, as well as giving scarlet brushstrokes that stand out among the dark branches and the white snow, creating enchanted landscapes.

I also added a third pattern to the deer and hare ones, with a sweet little sparrow pecking at the red berries on the highest and unreachable branches.
Finally, another simple decoration with my beloved snowflakes hanging between branches of berries and red ribbons. I have a lot of them on to my Christmas Tree and I love to design and create them also in a cute stitched version.

I love these designs and the real animals that inspired them very much, and I hope I managed to recreate, with stitches and colors, a pinch of the real magic of the winter forest.

The last pattern I present you this Christmas is also the first that I had announced, I wanted to do it since I knew that to get it back framed I would have to wait more than two weeks. It represents a symbol of Swedish Christmas that I love very much, the Advent Star, or Adventsstjärna. It is usually made of perforated paper, white or red, internally illuminated by small bulbs and hung on the window.

Almost every house in beautiful Sweden shows the bright Advent Star at the window, along with other symbols of Nordic Christmas, all related to abundance and light.

This one is not made of perforated paper, but can be stitched and hung on the window, just in time for the sacred feast of Saint Lucy.
I wanted to stitch this pattern myself, despite the pain in my neck that has been preventing me from stitching for several consecutive hours for several years, because I love it very much and stitching it was almost a ritual for me, a magical gesture, a Christmas spell.

I hope you like these new patterns and I also thank you because you are loving the ones released in recent days. Let’s share the magic of the forest and of the oldest and truest symbols, bearers of joy, light and peace.
I wish everyone a happy and bright Christmas, full of love, sincere sharing, true friendship, warm hugs, simple but meaningful gifts.
A big hug to all of you, with affection,
Laura

I’m ready to show you other three new patterns, designed for this Christmas time and for this magical winter. Two more others will arrive soon, I only need to finish the last seams, and wait for the loooong delivery of one of the small patterns that has been framed.
The first set of patterns that I present to you features my beloved little animals, but this time the scarlet winter berries are the real protagonists. Under branches of red berries and elegant wreaths, the little animals stand motionless and listen to the soft rustle of falling snow.

A blackbird is about to taste a juicy berry, a small white bird mingles with the snow and will soon peck a delicious berry, and a very sweet hare watches enchanted a snowflake falls, which will land right on its little nose. Finally, a large snowflake has let itself be captured by a red ribbon and now decorates the branches of the forest.
This set is the first of two, the second is equally special, and I’m sure you will feel its sweetness…

To my great joy, my series dedicated to bookmarks continues, and it will be more and more full of joyful little animals that will keep your reading company during all seasons of the year. Following the Bee and the Little Autumn Fox, come the Little Winter Cardinal and, of course – the constant symbol of The Little Stitcher – the Little Winter Robin.

The red cardinal loves being among the branches of conifers, with their dark green needles. With his chirping she teaches the alphabet and keeps track of the most special books. With its ornament you can decorate the Christmas Tree or your home during the cold and snowy winter months.

The little robin, on the other hand, prefers to blend in among the wild rose branches, with their orange-red berries, and literally immerse himself in the pages of the most beautiful stories. Even with its ornament you can decorate the Christmas Tree or your home during the winter months.

Since I’m literally surrounded by all these ornaments and bookmarks, I can tell you that they are really a feast for the eyes, with their warm and lively colors.
For the first time I also used raw linen, and I must say that I love its effect very much, so I will use it again and it will be a constant for many upcoming patterns.

I hope you like these three small pattern sets and waiting to introduce you to the last two, one at a time, I wish you a very happy December, full of warmth, love and moments of pure joy!
See you soon, a warm hug to all of you,
Laura

In ancient times, the pre-Christian Scandinavian peoples used to light fires or candles, and place them on a wheel, the Wheel of the Earth, praying to the divinities of light to make it turn again in the direction of the Sun, so as to make its rays and heat reappear and lengthen the endless cold nights.
Over time, the custom was adopted by the Christian church and thus the Advent Crown was born, a crown made up of intertwined branches – or of a metal structure – and decorated with natural elements, suitable for holding four candles. The four candles are lit one for each Sunday of Advent, i.e. for the four Sundays preceding Christmas Eve, and recall the approach of the birth of the new light – symbolized in this case by Christ – and therefore of the rebirth of the Sun.
The Advent Wreath can be circular, as the oldest tradition one, or the Advent Candles can be arranged in a row, to create a sort of path, or staircase, which culminates with the highest flame, the fourth, the one which burns together with all the others on the last Sunday before Christmas.

To decorate the Advent Wreath, some symbols cannot be missing, such as evergreen branches and in many cases, moss, red berries, pine cones and dried fruit. Pine and holly recall immortality and life that continues to resist even in the heart of winter, sprigs of cedar attract healing and strength, laurel recalls victory over suffering, while pine cones, red berries, nuts and dried fruit symbolize nourishment, life and rebirth.
The circle of the crown, on the other hand, represents the eternity of the divinity and immortality of the soul.

Second photo by Depot

The four candles have their own meaning. In the more Christian version, the first candle is the Candle of the Prophet, and refers to the prophecies about the coming of Christ; the second one is the Candle of Bethlehem, to remember the native land of Christ; the third one is the Candle of the Shepherds, who are those who first adored Christ; finally, the fourth candle is the Candle of the Angels, who first of all announced the birth of Christ to the world.
Some Advent Wreaths then have a fifth candle, placed in the center, it’s the Candle of Christ. This is lit on Christmas Eve and symbolizes the birth of the divine Child, who represents the light in the world.

According to a more secular version, the four candles recall four beneficial meanings, which at the same time act as magic words.
The first candle is Hope, the second candle is Peace – or sometimes Faith, the third candle is Joy, the fourth candle is Love. Where there is a fifth candle, this could represent Light.
The progressive lighting of the candles in fact recalls the growth of light, or its victory over darkness.

With this pattern I wanted to represent the four Advent Candles, giving them the look I love the most. The set also contains the four ornaments with the symbolic words of the four candles, Hope, Peace, Joy and Love, and also includes a single candle, taken from the first, to be stitched as single ornament.

ADVENT MAGIC CANDLES SAL 2022
Let’s light together the Advent Magic Candles

Starting this Sunday, until the last Sunday before Christmas Eve, we will light the four Advent Candles together, stitching their flame in a magical and symbolic gesture.

The first flame will be lit on Sunday 27 November 2022.
The second flame will be lit on Sunday December 4th.
The third flame on Sunday December 11th.
The fourth and final one will be lit on Sunday December 18th.

If you want to participate in this little SAL, all you have to do is buy the Advent Magic Candles pattern and stitch it so that the candles are ready to be lit during the Advent period.

Between one candle and another you can have fun embroidering the various decorations that embellish the pattern, and the four ornaments – Hope, Peace, Joy and Love – which can be hung on your Christmas tree or placed next to the embroidery of the Advent Candles.
The set also includes the pattern of a single candle, which can become a graceful ornament to remind us of the light to be kept alive every day.

If you want, you can share your progress and above all, spread the light of Advent by photographing your flame and posting it on your pages and in the FB group The Little Stitchers’ Club.

I wish you all a magnificent Advent Time and that the light, especially the one that burns within us, may grow and illuminate our little but important part of the world.

ADVENT MAGIC CANDLES SAL 2022

I am ready to present you the other two patterns for this autumn season and in particular for the moment of memory of all those who have been victims of the witch hunt. Halloween, in its most serious connotation, is a time dedicated to this too.
As I mentioned, the patterns are dedicated again to Salem and its poor witches. The settings, the colors, the clothes inspire me a lot and I really wanted to immerse myself in them again. This time I also wanted to represent one of the men executed during the trials, since six of the twenty people killed were men.
The first part of this first pattern is dedicated to the victims, a woman – in my imagination she is the brave Martha Carrier, who had a strong personality and a brilliant mind – and a man.
The man, in particular, in my imagination is John Willard, the young constable of Salem who initially was in charge of arresting the alleged witches and taking them to court. He had strong doubts about the veracity of the accusations, realizing the madness that was hidden behind those arrests, and in May 1692 he refused to continue with the arrests. He was accused himself of complicity with witches and of witchcraft, and became a victim of the hunt. When he was hanged in August 1692, he was only 35 years old.
One of the sentences he uttered when he was condemned is remembered here:
“(...) I fear not but the Lord in this due time will make me as white as snow.”

“(…) I fear not but the Lord in this due time will make me as white as snow.”

Between the two victims, I drew the name of the likely place where they lost their lives. If until a few years ago it was thought that the Salem Witches had been killed in Gallows Hill, it now seems to have been established that the exact place is Proctor’s Ledge, which lends itself much more to the descriptions drawn from the ancient documents relating to the process and the execution.
You can find more news on official sites, such as History of Massachusetts - https://historyofmassachusetts.org/where-is-the-real-gallows-hill/
Furthermore, regardless of the correct place of execution, a place of commemoration was recently created in Proctor’s Hill where many go to honor the memory of the victims. Twenty stems, arranged in a semicircle, bear their names engraved in the stones.

Potete trovare più notizie consultando i siti ufficiali, come History of Massachusetts - https://historyofmassachusetts.org/where-is-the-real-gallows-hill/

The second part of the pattern depicts the so-called Witch House, the only building that still exists in Salem, directly connected to the time of the trials and their protagonists. The house had in fact belonged to Jonathan Corwin, the magistrate who took care of hearing the depositions of the first accused of witchcraft at the trial. A disturbing house in which lived a man who unfortunately took part in the hunt, standing on the opposite side to the poor women and men who were captured and finally killed.
This pattern is therefore a portrait of the history of the time, to remember it and honor the memory of the victims.

The second pattern continues my series dedicated to the History Witches and depicts another of the most famous women accused of witchcraft in Salem, Rebecca Nurse. Unlike many other accused, Rebecca was a wealthy and very devoted woman, so her arrest aroused no little surprise and doubts about her real guilt. Unfortunately, the girls who, in their insane “affliction”, spread accusations wherever they could, also stuck with Rebecca, who was eventually hanged along with her sister, Mary Eastey, and all the others.
May they always be remembered and honored, in every place and in every time.

I hope you like these other patterns and that they are, despite the sad arguments, pleasant to stitch.
The themes of witches and historical trials will continue in my designs, I already have some drafts that will be made next year and which I hope will continue to preserve, in their own way, the memory of the past.
I wish everyone a pleasant autumn and a happy Halloween,
with affection and gratitude,
Laura

on this cold and rainy autumn day I am happy to present you the first two patterns for this season, obviously dedicated to Halloween.
The first one quickly became one of my favorites, and I hope you like it as much as I do.
As the moon rises, among white pumpkins and floating candles, two sisters witches sip a magical tea, accompanying it to a slice of cake. It is the magical Witches Tea Time, shared between a potion and a spell, and who knows what secrets the two witches will be talking about… certainly they are preparing for their night flight to peaks and clearings, to celebrate the magical Halloween night… Their night.

These two little witches, different yet similar as two sisters can be, have entered my heart and I believe that other patterns will be created on them… something is already boiling in the pot, indeed, in the cauldron!

The second pattern is intentionally creepy as all those in my Legends for Halloween and Little Horrors series, and this year it is dedicated to the scary Bloody Mary. Legend tells that if her spirit is summoned in front of a mirror, by saying her name three times, lit only by a candle, her ghost appears to kill anyone who has summoned it wishes… but you have to be very careful, Bloody Mary is not foolish… sometimes to end up under her lethal hands is the very one who evoked it…

Bloody Mary is the Phantom of the Mirror, so on these nights leading up to Halloween, beware of mirrors… and those who live beyond their deceptive surface… ;)

These are the first two patterns for this season, but two more will be arriving next week. If you loved my first Salem pattern and her Bridget Bishop, you probably won’t be disappointed with these other two that carry on both the history and the style. I love them very much, I hope you will like them.
For now I wish you a happy beginning of October and… see you soon!
A hug to all,
Laura

while waiting to dedicate completely myself to Halloween, I would like to present you these three patterns that I loved designing and finishing.
The first one, in all autumnal style, welcomes this September and follows my new line dedicated to bookmarks and animals, which I hope will continue for a long time, because the ideas are many and all really sweet and fun.
After the first set of bookmarks dedicated to bees, this is the first one that accompany the bookmark with an ornament and a small pin cushion, which you can also realize as a needle book. To welcome the first autumn air and the first falling leaves, there is a very sweet and soft fox, offered in two slightly different versions. The fox is very much in love with autumn, so much so that its fur recalls the color of the redder and coppery leaves. She likes to watch them twirl in the air and gently settle on the ground, and above all she loves hiding, camouflaging, among the trunks and piles of leaves, popping out when least expected.

The second pattern has been waiting to come out for some months, and is dedicated to one of my favorite characters, Agatha Christie’s shrewd and likeable detective, Hercule Poirot. I admit it, I watch and re-watch his films again and again, and I find in Poirot such a pleasant company that I just can’t help it. His little gray cells are unbeatable, and as is well known, Poirot is never wrong – he is always keen to remember it.
The pattern is very simple but I hope you enjoy it and that it can keep you company, perhaps sipping a good cup of tea, and watching, with one eye on embroidery and one on the screen, one of the episodes of his fantastic television series.

The third pattern is a very tiny gem. I wanted to design and stitch in a few versions a very tiny bird, tiny enough to fit in one hand. I wanted it to be pearl gray, and that it could be embellished with the sweetest, most delicate and elegant decorations. I wanted it to be perfect for giving small gifts to friends, or even wedding favors and little gifts, and so it is. This tiny, tiny bird, a symbol of love and kindness, was born, and is available to all of you at an equally tiny cost.
The pattern includes both versions, with hand-dyed yarn from The Gentle Art on antique white linen, and with simple white yarn on hand-dyed gray linen. The second version is embellished with three little pearls.

***

I hope you like these new patterns and that they keep you company in these first days of September, when the leaves begin to turn yellow, when it is nice to spend a few moments embroidering in front of an episode of Poirot, when a tiny bird of the color of fog and pearls chirps, a gift made from the heart to the closest friends.

***

You can find my new patterns in my Etsy Shop:

https://www.etsy.com/shop/LittleStitcherShop

or you can order them writing me an email:

info.thelittlestitcher@gmail.com or order.thelittlestitcher@gmail.com

Potete trovare i nuovi schemi nel mio negozio Etsy:

https://www.etsy.com/shop/LittleStitcherShop

oppure potete ordinarli scrivendomi una mail:

info.thelittlestitcher@gmail.com o order.thelittlestitcher@gmail.com
Laura Violethttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09189782937118497209noreply@blogger.com0
